Anyone has a source for pre-made pioneer style women's garb? Friend's daughter is interested & she doesn't sew.

Re: Pioneer/Mountain Man Garb
Wed, March 19, 2008 - 7:42 AM"Pre-made" is the rub. Most pattern companies have costumes for that. Also, the term "Pioneer" is a little loose. Is she looking for something from the earliest days of the US? Or from the Westward Migration (Oregon, Santa Fe trails, et. al.)?
She might want to check out websites and groups that practice historical re-enactments from the time period she has in mind. Civil War re-enactors could help her out with stuff from the 1800's, and there is a groups that do the French And Indian War, Revolutionary War and the War of 1812 running around that could help with earlier clothing.
Hope that helps a little. -

Re: Pioneer/Mountain Man Garb
Wed, March 19, 2008 - 11:48 AMThanks, I've got tons of links for sewing your own...but nothing on pre-made. I'll let her know to check out local re-enactor groups & they'll likely point her in a better direction.

Thu, March 20, 2008 - 6:50 AMwww.smoke-fire.com/ This would be a good place to start your search. Also starting on page 133 of the Panther Primitives catalog (which you can get as a PDF here : pantherprimitives.com/catalog.html ) There are some clothing selections.
