Anyone have any good links to Japanese garb sites? I have 2 friends (brothers) who want to come to Pennsic next year and they want to do Japanese as they are of Japanese and Norwegian heritage (I tryed to talk them into Viking but they both look like Sumo wrestlers and opted for Japanese) any help would be appreciated!!

Mon, September 3, 2007 - 4:33 PMGretchen,
Here are some sites that helped me out with the very basics when i ditched European in favor of Japaneses
www.sengokudaimyo.com/miscell...any.html
This should be standard reading for any Japanese persona. The author is not only an expert on Japanese culture but is also a SCAdian so the site is tailor made for re-enactors.
www.sengokudaimyo.com/garb/garb.html
That is the companion site solely about garb. The hakama pattern found here (minus the gore) is what I have been using for some time.
www.ee0r.com/proj/jgarb01.html
Another SCAdians page with photo examples of many types of garb
www.wodefordhall.com/index.htm
The page of Saionji no Hanae. who has a European alter ego. Her article on "kosode made simple" started me off on my first kosode with very nice results.
Hope these help!
Yours in service,
