so a friend bought a nasty bottle of something for the japanese beetles on her lychee tree .. and I said there must be another way.. is there?

insect infestations occur on plants suffering from soil imbalances. First of all, test your soil. I trust A&L Labs. If an instant, topical solution is what you desire... and, your application is reasonably small... diatomacious earth will dissuade the beetles.
