Friday will be my virgin moon gathering. I look forward to the experience. What instruments are expected to participate that night? I would love to bring my guitar ,if it in with the others.

peace

    Ludent,

We welcome all instruments. I'm hoping some bagpipes make an appearance some day, but that's probably just me.

The list of instruments that have been at the Gatherings is pretty cool...

drums of all kinds, flutes of all kinds, other blown instruments including sax, a variety of strings including acoustic guitar, bass, cello, kamenche and kushtar, singing and beatboxing and oooooh, dueling didgs.

I set up a few mics and keep a DI box or two ready for instruments to plug into the house system.

You'll find that the Gathering is not at all song based, the music grows organically in 'movements' and instruments ebb and flow with the changing tides. I've gone through three or four different instruments throughout the course of a 'movement'. I believe that any instrument can work as long as it's played in the context of the whole. There have also been some beautiful moments during the lulls the group inevitably has, where you'll hear an instrument or two making music in a corner. It's all good.

Really looking forward to seeing you there! Chris
