Fri, November 30, 2007 - 9:14 AMI saw NKOTB in concert...twice. I also saw Madonna, Vanilla Ice, AND Marky-Mark and the Funky Bunch. I think that's why I turned out to be such a music snob...to atone for past pop sins. ;)
Does anyone else remember Skidz pants? The horrible plaid Hammer-pants-like nightmare that took over my junior high?

Wall bangs - that were so high it was insane. Or the two pair of socks and you would be cool and alternate the colors? Folding your pants and rolling them up??? What were we thinking?
In the 8th grade we had picture day and we could bring a prop. I brought a phone, that had the HUGE numbers on it.... so I have the receiver to my ear and I'm sitting in a chair with my legs hanging over.
Speaking of legs - what about leg warmers....

I want to say that even my outfit was pretty gawdawful..... and not to mention I had a short boy cut that wasn't popular back then and I didn't know how to style it... it was longer on top and on the bottom and I think I curled it... it was BAD... and not Michael Jackson bad.... -

Fri, November 30, 2007 - 3:47 PMAren't you like thirty? I'm 27- so of course I totally remember the Walk the Dinosaur song. In fact, my PE teacher in fourth grade taught us a dance routine to it! That and Thriller and Chains of Love. (Gee, do you think he was a gay P.E. teacher?)
I had a NKOTB sleeping bag and I didn't get to go to the concert but my friend Nicole's parents got the concert on pay-per-view and we had a slumber party in honor of it.
Hey- do y'all remember the song Back to the Hotel? It was awesome. And BBD's Poison???!!! LOVE IT!!!

And... how many of you went to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles part II when it came out in the theater because Vanilla Ice was in it? I did. It was everything I had hoped it would be and more. -

Yes, I still have all the Misfits as well as Jem/Jerika, Asha and.....some girl with a headset that I can't remember who she was? I even know where they are so I'll go look tonight and take some pics to post, I used to make costumes for them and everyone said I should be a fashion designer when I grew up. Now I make bellydance costumes, go figure....
Ooooo! Transformers! How about those? I absolutely loved them (the G1 series mind you) and about died with they made the animated movie in 86 and half the Autobots got killed in the first 30 minutes. Then I cried when Optimus Prime died, I was crushed! I really like the new Transformers movie though, it brings back the old nostalgia but updated so I can enjoy it more as an adult.
Hmmmm, what else.... Oh yeah, how about Reboks and jean shorts? I think I lived in that style for a year or two in the late 80s early 90s. Big hair, been there done that too, I also had the sunglasses made by Oakley called Razorblades and with my hair all up in the air and bulletproof my friends called me RoboChick. Oh the movie RoboCop was one of my favorites too!

"Little Darlin's" it had Christy McNichols, Tatum O'Neill, and Matt Dillon.... it was the coolest movie and where I fell in love with the song "one way or another".... -

Thu, December 6, 2007 - 1:22 PMI love that someone else knows and adores this movie.... I thought I was the only one. I love with Matt Dillon is showing off on his dirt bike - how dreamy - with his long hair. And can you believe that "miranda" from Sex in the City is the vegan girl in the movie?
When they steal the bus - awesome.... sneaking over to the other side of the lake.... that was just a great coming of age movie... and who didn't love summer camp. Why couldn't I have ever gone to a summer camp like that?
My other guilty pleasure from the 80's movie wise is Six Pack. Kenny Rogers, and Diane Lane (as a 16 yr old orphan) and her siblings and they become his pit crew and are trouble makers... I love that one too....

If you have never seen Some Kind of Wonderful - go see it. There is a kiss in there that should be in the books as an all time greatest kiss (for 80's movies)....
