A networking hint: if when you establish your My Profile page you enter keywords in the "My Interests" section which tag your research area(s), hobbies, and/or passions then those terms will be searchable throughout Tribe.net. there are literally tens of thousands of tribes and many more members within them, so including some keyword terms to sift your needle out of this haystack may prove useful.
For instance, "marine microbial ecology" and "bacterial physiology" or "Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders" or even acronyms such as "FASD" will pop out for anyone searching those keywords.
Best,

Re: Keywords in your "Interests" section are searchable throughout Tribe.net
Sun, October 21, 2007 - 1:02 PMApparently, as of this morning there are 58,682 different tribes in this network.
If anyone spots any existing tribes which overlap in some way with this one then please make a post or email me a note with the name(s). I searched for an existing group with this same nature before establishing this tribe, but did not find any.
By the way, this tribe was established in the "cultures and communities" section rather than in the "science and history section" because I figured the nature of this tribe is more that of a community of science folk than science folk focused on a topic.
The reason for the name of this tribe being "GLBT Scientists, Techs, & SciStudents" is this is all the verbiage which would fit inside the title cell and seemed most inclusive. I hope people seaching "Gay Scientists" and Lesbian Scientists" and so on can still find us.
