so i'm coming to firedrums, but was thinking of stopping on the way over there... in New York... This will be in april sometime... What you guys think? Are there any spinners in New York? Good scene? Clubs / meets to spin at? Are there juggling clubs?

Also, Any good reasons to get off my plane between NYC and SF?

I should contact chad, I guess.

Also, I'll probably be forced into doing workshops in portland... ;)

    New Yorks scene is struggling,
The juggling club is there on thurs in the village, but no staffys or pois probably more number performer types....

but boston and philly are thriving for spinning....either place we can set you up with whatever you'd need.

And if you wanted to spend a few days in the city, I probably could put you up in my sistas house....really swank.

In between NYC and SF, probably, but I don't really know,

You'll also be going to LA as well, in case no one told you.... ; )

Okay, about to book these flights... there's a super cheap deal from london - JFK - SF so I'm gonna get that. Probably leaving start of april coming back end of may. Another got any objections? Might try and make some weird bus journey trip to boston, maybe montreal, then go to SF, LA and Portland on the other side. In time you know, for stuff.

Looking for a weird bus journey then come down from New York to the Smoky Mountains and Ashevile, NC. Rolling stone called us "the freakiest city in America" and we have a fairly large fire community here. My troupe, Unifire Theatre, conducts a monthly workshop on Poi and staff and would love to have you as our special guest and give you the proceeds. We are big MCP fans out here. Free place to stay. We are a long ways from the west coast though. Weird, just learned the conveyor belt from one of your videos last night. Thanks MCP.

        So now the plan is:

1st April Arrive at New York JFK. (I'm worried, what are flights like on the 1st of april?)

23rd April Fly from Phillidelphia to SF. (I just chose philly for a laugh, force me to explore the east coast a bit, maybe I'll get up to boston too. and what's this about asheville? Can you get buses or trains there?)

25th April - 10th May - do firedrums in LA and other stuff.

Some time in May, try and get to portland.

        30th May, leave from LA.

        Yays!

Oh yeah, so those are my booked flights, so it's all set in stone, as far as paying for things is concerned... also, looks like I should make it to this RIT Spring Juggle-In thing... in New York... Sweet!

I'm sure there is a bus or train to Asheville from New York. Asheville has a great scene and my troupe Unifire Theatre (www,unifiredance.com) does monthly workshops. We'd be happy to give you a place to stay in the mountains. It is about 12 hours south of New York though.

oh sweet, there's some kinda amtrak train Betwixt boston, new york and philly. Win! Doesn't get me much close to asheville, by the looks of it, only about two inches closer... but I will get to ride on amtrak! Yeah!

now I just need to beg some couches off people...

Meg the buses are AWESOME! They are clean/cheap only for you like 5 quid or 10-12 dollars per ride, not very many stops

In Philly stay with either Densie, Squiddie or Lucky (the HOP calender guy). You can message them, they are under my friends, but more like they'll contact you ; )

Then in Boston you HAVE to go to Brad and Rogers in New Hampshire. Maybe before you could stay at Chad's in Salem or probably the most central spot you could stay with Joanna and Aaron in Boston proper....Easily worked out...

In New York? Obviously you would stay with Clare! And actually I think squiddie will have moved up to NY by then...

One company that has buses is called APEX travel, just type bus philly to NY and apex and your all set, you don't even really need to buy your ticket ahead of time, they run like every hour!

                  Hope that this helps ya!

tanks muchly NO-L, seems like I've got a bunch of east coast nonsense to organise... ace! Hopefully people won't be too put off by my internet reputation... or perhaps that's just Bluecat making me paranoid.

Clare? Who is clare? might try and beg a sofa off molly and matt/NYC but that might be a bit weird... do some decent parkour training while I'm there...

Oi woman there is nothing wierd about our sofa.

Except all the puppets that peer over the arms at you.

And the hamster, but you're good with rodents.

I'm posting Tulip and Bluebell out from london so there Will be at least two sticks in NY and we can go and pretend that Thompkins Square is the meadows and heckle a lot. Yeah.

Clare is lovely. At least I know a lovely Clare. I know we've got a Rachael and her approving ninja staying in May sometime, but you'll be far west by then won't you?

Looking forward to seeing you in NY... once I manage to actually get there myself.

well there might be, with all the live animals running around me pretending to be 'puppet' ones.

Plus you might be just in the settling in process and I don't wanna get in the way.

Though I'd love to stay with someone I know in the big scarey city. I was just getting used to london... but new york is bigger, badder, and more different.

In may, yeah I'll be gone. the ninja steve will be a good laugh in may. He's getting on well with his life... Wants to become a teacher, pparently...

Plus yay for parks and spinning! You know you can heckle me all you want, somebody has too, I think everybody else is scared too... ;(

                        Good luck with the move!

                        :D

s'alright - the hamster died yesterday so all the animals are now inanimate :(

Come stay with us for a little first and then we'll farm you out to the clamouring masses of NY hippies-who-you-mustn't-call-hippies-cos-it-isn't-the-'Burgh-you-know. Ahem. Yes.

Visa is arriving tomorrow (cross sticks) and I've pre settled anyway so No Worries!

and I promise to heckle you mercilessly, point at your tummy if your shirt rides up and refuse to clap politely when you finished so There.

                          Looking forward to seeing you!
Will bingle you elsewhere to make proper plans.

well I didn't like that hamster anyway.

I don't know if I'll be there long enough to be farmed out... I got some places to see and people to go... Poughkeepsie, boston, rochester and philly (x2) so far...

okays cool! Another couple of weeks and I can ask you for travel advices...

I have special non-riding shirts now. Win.

Coolio... Will try and figure out some proper plans... :D

Actually, I would suggest taking the greyhound buses if you want to travel among those three cities. They have special cheap rates and let's face it, amtrak is stupidly expensive.

itll be nice to finally get to really meet you.

there is a bus NY <--> Boston called the fung wah, that costs $15. and i think 20 or 25 round trip. by far the best way to take the trip. its like 3 hours, and they usually stop at a rest stop on the way.

amtrak can't be that bad. Plus I wanna go on it... You've clearly never seen the train prices in the UK. But I consider the bus tooooo. Thanks for the infos.

NOEL: The times I put up are exact, I've already got the ticket...

      but I'll reiterate here:

leave to NYC jfk airport 1st april,

leave Philidelphia to Oakland 23rd April.

      Leave SF (international) 30th May

      Joys!

Is two months enough? Still kinda considering extending my stay and nipping back over to NYC for wildfire...

oh shit. now i gotta practice extra hard, cause the fuckin' queen is comin.

no, meg if you need a spot to stay in portland, hit me up, it would be the least i could do to pay back for all the help your tutorials were in the beginning, especially if you really are a sarcastic, shit talkin, super bitch, then i'm definitely down to kick it. and if you wanna do workshops here, i could probably help getting the space and the word out. ther're hella staffers in town, but hardly anyone's throwin down contact. i've even considered doing a workshop myself, but i'm not sure enough of my own skill level. anyway, i guess i'll go out in the rain now and polish up my angel rolls and see if i can figure out what to do with them. peace

      Yo!

      I ain't no queen... :s ;)

In portland, I think Shireen has got my back, in terms of workshops and sofa-age. So that's cool.

And yes, I am all those things, but not all the time, and sometimes, I am all those things and all at once. :D

Man oh man I do not get online enough anymore! I need to pay better attention to these things and you know the sad part is I think Noel had mentioned this to me a month or two back.

\MCP, are you driving from Boston to Rochester? If so I would be more then happy to put you up for a night or two or 3 in Albany NY. It's right on I-90 which is the interstate you would take if you were driving from Boston to Rochester. It's just about halfway in between the two cities so it would at least make for a good rest stop for a long drive.

There isn't much of a spinning scene here (i am working on that though), but I am pretty sure there is a juggling club that meets Wednesday's from 6-9 at RPI. Unfortunately I haven't been able to make it since I am busy from 7-8 each Wednesday so I don't know how it is. I'm not sure what your interests are but within a 10 minute walk of my apartment there's the Albany Institute of Art, the NY State Museum of Natural History, the State Capitol & Empire Plaza which often has different conventions, expos, and events going on throughout the week and the museums and such are usually free. We could also go on a hike if you're feeling adventurous. : )

If you can't make a stop in Albany, I'll be sure to try and catch you either in Boston, Philly, or Rochester. Regardless of all that I should be arriving in SF on the 26th as well so no matter what we'll be seeing each other sometime this April.

If you want to make arrangements to stop in Albany (which would be awesome), email me at rovobailey@yahoo.com

This just brightened my day oh so much. : )
