And I know this has nothing to do with contact staff....

Re: I mean no disrespect to the instructor in question....
Sun, February 15, 2009 - 9:45 AMthis series came up in the Fire Arts Education and Equipment tribe. Generally speaking, I dont think someone who wears jelly armbands and keeps their fuel that close to their feet needs to be teaching anyone anything about how to use fire. Especially with one of the riskiest forms of fire arts there are. -

Re: I mean no disrespect to the instructor in question....
Sun, February 15, 2009 - 10:00 AMOK thank you.... i wanted to make sure I wasn't being my usual dickish self.... There is no mention of the danger of the most fatal risk, chemical pnumonitis either..... or proper way to rinse with dr bronners or soda....
I do love the safety tip section with the disclaimer that basically says don't use this video for educational purposes... :D

Re: I mean no disrespect to the instructor in question....
Sun, February 15, 2009 - 1:52 PMGGGRRRRrrrrr..... I really hope folks seek out a qualified teacher to learn any spinning/fire art from. This person is not ready to teach safety/fire breathing. There are several really important aspects of safety that they are leaving out. And if someone gets terribly burned because of this.... grrrrrrrr.
Any way we can flag it on that site as dangerous material that should be removed? I couldn't find anything.
If the author of that video reads this, I hope you know that we do love and support you spreading these arts and what you are trying to do with this (and it is a ton of work what you did). Thank you for that. But you did not do a good job with this and people could get hurt because of it. Not to mention the ancilary effect that could have on the entire art community. Please pull this video back and add all the important things that need to be in there. We will help if needed. -

Re: I mean no disrespect to the instructor in question....
Sun, February 15, 2009 - 5:03 PMChad, we were all over this in the fire breathing forums for a while. You can write expert village to file a complaint, but there hasn't been any response at all, and I don't think that file is coming down. (I've written them, and I believe a slew of other people have as well.) Here are some contacts, if you feel so inclined...

Mon, February 16, 2009 - 12:04 AMI googled "Page Turner Fire" and found a video of her and Madison Orange spinning together.
You could probably ask Madison for Page's info. -

Re: I mean no disrespect to the instructor in question....
Wed, March 4, 2009 - 9:08 PMI've posted video's before to Expert Village and can attest that their standard for being an expert consist of "Has a video such as this been posted before?" Personally, I am very highly qualified by the US Gov't to teach what my video's demonstrated, but it was not about fire arts. US Gov't endorsing fire arts? Nah...couldn't be...
I suggest that if you have qualms about the video, put it in the comments. If the video is a grevious assault on your senses and sensibility, write to Expert Village and tell them you know how to do it right. I think you get $100 or something like that to post a video.

Re: I mean no disrespect to the instructor in question....
Sun, March 15, 2009 - 3:23 AMThere are some people who I would really prefer did not try to teach. Teachers have a tremendous about of influence and in cases like this that power is dangerous.
To all you teachers out there, remember that your way is not the only way. Your understanding of any given concept is more limited then you will realize for a long time. People learn best when they can figure something out for themselves and most of the time all that is necessary is a little guidance.
