My Dance discipline

I am a professional Polynesian dancer with the Pacific Island Dancers, I have been with them since i was fourteen. We dance hula, tahitian, somoan, maori, and phillipino dances. I have also taken classes in Raqs Sharqi and contemporary Indian dance, (which includes instruction in Kathatk and Bharata Naytahm.) In my college i took a class entitled World Dance And Cultures which inspired me to learn more about the dance cultures of the world and to see the similarities and the uniqueness of the different dances of the world. I want to learn as many different styles as i can, but my first love will always be Polynesian. Currently, for the Indian dance class i am taking, as part of my final i want to make a fusion piece that includes the styles of kathak, bharata natyam and hula. Recently, i went to see a dance performance by a UCLA student of Vietnamese descent who used Kathak to express her feelings of being caught in between cultures. So that is a part of how i include interculturality in my life. But i am also interested to see how others feel about this as well? How do you feel about fusing styles and intercultural dance work?
