Music Ideas

We love using the latest in the world fusion / global groove genre of dance music such as what can be found on the Buddha Bar series, Buddha Lounge series, Buddha Cafe and others. I've been using this genre of music for years in my Goddess Bellydance workshops and find that it lends itself well to world-fusion bellydance performances too. Whats your favorite?

    ::FAINT::

    I was online today searching HIGH AND LOW trying to find good music, but I hadn't a clue!!!!! I bought a cd the other night that said it was Drum and Bass influenced, and I really ended up thinking it was LAME.

    Thank you! Namaste! :-)

    E Muzeki is my favorite, especially their latest cd. They were playing at the Renn Faire my troupe performed at last weekend, so we actually got to dance to them live, which was such an honor... Their music is a blend of many cultures, and they have a few pieces that take my hips on a ride whether I like it or not.

    I'll definately check out the other suggestions in this thread, I'm always looking for new music.

    Namaste

      I really like Govinda, Bob Holroyd and The Tantra Lounge series (1-3)!

        Thanks for the recommendations. I'll have to check them out. I used to have the Govinda CD but lost it somewhere down the gypsy trail :-) I should get it again. I remember it has lots of great music on it. I do have a Tantra Lounge CD too but Im not sure its the same as what you are recommending. I love the one I have though. It has several arab-indian fusion tracks perfect for global fusion bellydance.

    I love nearly everything I've heard come from the Six Degrees record label (sixdegreesrecords.com). Many of the bands are world fusion. I especially love Ekova, Niyaz, Azam Ali, and the label's compilation collections.

    I've been digging The Yoshida Brothers and discovered amazing Shamisen music in the process.................

    Check this out -- these guys are insane, and I mean that in the best possible way. Kind of a Japanese Gypsy Fusion thing going on here........ or that's how my body reacts to it anyway.......

    I have many like the Hookah Cafe, the North African Groove by Putumaya (try any of their releases!), Tribal Beatz, Beat Bazaar, Electric Oasis ( Exotic Arabian Grooves). I usually look on www.maqum.com If anyone else has other ideas or good CD's I'm all ears.

    Have you sampled any music on the Link TV website or video presentations?
