I say this, since I walked in and saw Sparky eating a steak in there the other day... but oddly, like I've posted before, I have run into some folks that I rarely bump into at the Turf Club over the last few years - one was a guy that helped set up one of the Treehouse, one of I think 2 music installations at the first Xara, with the other being Xara. Come to think of it, Dr. Techno is in there all the time, and he lives within a five minute walk... now we got to find his Icon in this thing to and send him an invite.

Re: Turf Club, the new Sparky's
Sat, December 9, 2006 - 6:39 PMI've been trying to make the Turf into a burner watering hole for 2.5 years now, way before I even considered moving down here, when I used to drive 40 min. each way from Bonsall to have dinner there every Fri. and sometime shave to sleep it off at No Angels' or my van.
(I know: shamelessly taking credit, but I got proof. Here's a SDburningman post from 2004 - groups.yahoo.com/group/sdb...sage/23193 ).
I guess some seeds take a while to germinate. Or maybe they just take giving up and then moving into the area.
FYI - Sparky is there every Mon. for dinner. Always was even when Sparky's was open.
FYI2 (little secret) - Did you know that both Dave the doorman and Doug the bartender are burners? though hey don't like to think of themselves as such, both been to playa like 6 times. And they're both cool dudes too (cool enough to risk sneaking i some Absinthe for).
And Leann the waitress is an aspiring burner, though so far I only got her to make it to one party.
Stay tuned for more Golden Hill gossip. -

Re: Turf Club, the new Sparky's
Sat, December 9, 2006 - 8:56 PMI remember that post - that was about the time Sara moved into the hood and I started going in there - and ran into those mentioned above and a hell of a lot others - usually one at a time, again with the weird part of most of them not being the type that go to any regular b-parties etc.
