Does anybody know which movie this clip is from? www.youtube.com/watch
Somebody on the youtube comments said it's from Ebn Hamido - has anyone here seen that movie, and can you confirm whether this scene indeed comes from that movie?
Do you know of any other movies featuring dance scenes by her? Do you think this imdb link is her, or is it someone else with a similar name? www.imdb.com/name/nm1031474/

Re: Naemet Mokhtar
Wed, October 10, 2007 - 9:30 PMI have a DVD from the Sausan Academy which features Naámet Mokhtar and that clip is on it.
There is also a clip on the DVD where Naámet is dancing and someone is trying to poison her. The dialog was kind of funny from the perspective of an American. We have the saying "It's enough to kill a horse", well in this clip someone says "It's enough to choke a camel".
Isn't Naámet so beautiful and talented? But, back to the original question, Sausan might be able to help you.

Wed, October 10, 2007 - 9:48 PMAzeeza, thanks for the answer! Do Sausan's DVD's identify which movie each clip comes from? If so, does her Naemet Mokhtar DVD say which movie this one comes from?
I love that expression, "enough to choke a camel". <giggling> -

Re: Naemet Mokhtar
Wed, October 10, 2007 - 9:54 PMIf I recall, I don't think it does. There is a biography at the beginning and at the end that lists the movies she has been in, but I don't think it identifies which clips are which.
Tell you what, why don't I go look at it and post the movie name, if I find it. I have it right here next to me (if I can tear myself away from Ghost Hunters).
Talk to you soon,

Re: Naemet Mokhtar
Wed, October 10, 2007 - 10:17 PMWell, I have a bit more info, but it might make things more complicated.
According to the DVD she is remembered for her part in "The Cairo Trilogy", which included "Palace Walk", "Place of Desire", and "Sugar Street". I think she had a part in "Palace Walk". These were released in 1965.
She produced a movie called "The Woman Who Defeated Satan" in 1973. She also appeared in these movies, "Hamido's Son", "Catch the Thief", "Hassan and Naéema", "Life is Beautiful", and "Public Baths". It also says that she disappeared after her success without a trace.
But, if this helps you any the actor who hides something in the neckercheif with fez is named Tawfiq El Deqin. If you can find his name listed on the credits with her name you might have hit the jackpot.

Re: Naemet Mokhtar
Wed, October 10, 2007 - 10:45 PMAh, this is good information - thanks for sharing! As it happens, I have two of those movies (Hamido's Son and Hassan & Naima) on my shelf waiting to be watched - now I'll know who the dancer is when the scene comes up! But before I get around to watching those, I have two more Tahia Carioca movies waiting to be watched (Inspector General and Love Beach) and three more Samia Gamal movies (I Love You, Don't Tell Anyone, and The Final Lie.)
So many movies, so little time! -

Thu, October 11, 2007 - 7:15 AMI have "I Love You" and it's pretty cute. Even my husband watched it with me and he also liked it. Good movie to have in your library. The passion between Samia and Farid comes through. I wished they had married, darn it!

Re: Naemet Mokhtar
Mon, November 12, 2007 - 3:30 PMTawfiq El Dekn always plays the bad guy.
I have a clip of him dancing with Sahar Hamdi...a very young Sahar Hamdi.
According to my sources, Tawfiq was a very kind-hearted man.

Re: Naemet Mokhtar
Thu, October 11, 2007 - 4:43 AMYes, that is the same dancer. I havn't watched it for a while. But on the back of the cover has a picture of her dancing in that scene. Hind Rostum also plays in the film, but not as the dancer (I forgot that part). Good movie. Thanks for bringing this up. Now I know the name (Naemet Mokhtar) of this dancer, I'll try to remember her.

PS: You can also see the back of the DVD cover of Ebn Hamido on Fineartfilm website.
