On the JUKEBOX tribe a few of us are wondering why it seems like some threads are missing. Like if someone posted a thread 6 months ago titled BILLY IDOL, why won't it come up in a search? It's like several old threads have disappeared. Do they disappear or "time out" if they havent been posted to after a while or what?

Re: Missing threads?
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 7:01 AMNot for a long time. Why? I do like it. Billy Idol is the best concert I've ever been to. Whiplash Smile tour in Dallas Reunion Area. -

Re: Missing threads?
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 3:25 PMPerhaps the originator of the thread killed it? Maybe the mod?
Maybe your seach-fu is lacking

Re: Missing threads?
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 6:44 PMMarv *is* the moderator for that particular tribe, and he never deletes anything. (Which is cool, because it's nice to scroll back through the lists sometimes.)
I've got pretty good search fu and I find this happening not only on Jukebox but on other tribes, too. :( -

Re: Missing threads?
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 12:54 PMAre they threads he started or somebody else?
There have been some wacky database corruptions. It's possible some things got ate by the FSM.

Re: Missing threads?
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 11:49 AMThey are threads that I started and that others started. Most of us on that tribe post by the artists name so it's easy to search fu poo later. Like "Iron Maiden." etc.... Sometimes we post things under themes like "Songs from Hell." Then like all the songs are about Hell. Stuff like that. But several I know for a fact were posted under the artists name and they are just gone. Kinda sucks because I like to be able to pull up an old thread and add something new to it instead of starting a new one. That way you have one thread for say Van Halen instead of 5 or 10. It just makes it less redundant. Like if there is already an Alice Cooper thread post on it so it's not like. Dude, there's already an Alice thread. BUTT, it's not a strict rule that's required to be followed. Alot of us post things that have already been posted before.
Anyway, the main thing is that I wanted to ask about here was the missing threads thing. Because that is something I notice on the JUKEBOX tribe. Like I know for a fact that certain things were posted and just arent coming up in the search. That a couple people had asked or stated that they think maybe threads "time out" if they havent had a post on them for a certain amount of time. I'm not sure. I thought threads stayed up unless someone deletes them. -

Re: Missing threads?
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 4:37 PMSure they are not deleted by the original author? Cause that could happen. -
-
Re: Missing threads?
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 7:08 PMYes I'm sure that mine werent and that probably most others didnt delete their threads either. They are wondering the same thing. I don't think anyone on JUKEBOX has deleted any threads. It's just not something that happens. Everything that's posted is so totally cool there's no deleting going on. -

Re: Missing threads?
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 7:16 PMHear hear!
(And again, some threads in other tribes I'm on have disappeared also and I doubt their authors deleted them, either) -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Missing threads?
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 8:16 AMYeah, offer a database a bribe and the whole world falls apart. -
