Can somebody crack down on Master Erik for repeatedly posting the same thing every 30 seconds on the Front Page, thereby pushing all other posters down off the page. I certainly have no problem with the particular subject matter, but find his hogging of the front page extremely offensive - it's just another kind of spam! This is supposed to be for everybody, not just him.

Re: Front Page Hogging - Yes, I mean you Master Erik
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 3:31 PMHe is cross-posting an event that is tonite.Ihave gotten tired of asking that people not cross post but it doesn't matter. Which is whyI keep asking for an "ignore" function, or a "marked read from homepage" function, so that I don't have to keep opening every tribe I'm in which is applicable to the subject just to clear it out.
If you never log out than you don't have to see the log-in page.

Re: Front Page Hogging - Yes, I mean you Master Erik
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 3:34 PMYa, I really hate when people feel the need to post events in a tribe discussion area. I make very few exceptions to this on the tribes I moderate.
If they take the time to write it up for the specific tribe I'm less likely to get annoyed. Wen it's just copy/paste crap it belongs elsewhere. Write an actual event and attack it to all the relevant tribes. People WILL see it.
Spam bad.

Re: Front Page Hogging - Yes, I mean you Master Erik
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 4:25 PMUm, Shatter, people don't look at events in the event sections of particular tribes because it is a pain to click on a tab.Which is why everybody always cross-posts. Now, if events & listings just popped up under the active tribes on a tribe home page, THEN people would see it.
Ya know, like it Used to Be when Tribe was young and functional.... -

Re: Front Page Hogging - Yes, I mean you Master Erik
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 11:04 PMagreed. I *never* look at the events tab in the Tribes, and because of that, I don't mind events being posted in the regular threads - so long as they aren't overly aggressive.
But this particular person does drive me absolutely insane with the crossposting in *all* of the related Tribes I frequent. I do want to support the events and the like, but I get cranky enough that I will ignore them entirely and avoid the event or zine being published. But out of respect for what he's trying to do, and the community he represents, I've not complained and have simply spent 5 minutes clicking on each tribe to mark them all as read.

Ahhh... it warms my heart. The days before tabs... way back when, when tribe was direct, simple and true. -

Re: Front Page Hogging - Yes, I mean you Master Erik
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 8:19 AMI don't allow event postings in my Tribe--it says so right in the Tribe descriptions. I just deleted the first couple of event posts from Master Eric but he didn't get the hint. When I wrote him politely asking him not to post events he sent off the biggest flame I've seen in quite some time. He apparently feels he's too much better than all of us to need to play nicely.

Re: Front Page Hogging - Yes, I mean you Master Erik
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 12:51 PMI can pull 400-600 views on my events in just a few days, so people are seeing them. It's a matter of knowing proper leverage and how to promote.
Events pop up in more places than just the events tab.
