When (and I can name more than a few) people I know eat crap all-day in the form of fast food, junk food, etc, even more than once a day in a lot of cases, never move a muscle, or even go outside for air and yet and still have *perfect* bodies without an ounce of fat, flawless skin and look awake.
I: Eat right more than most of the time; haven’t had fast food in 5 years, never eat junk, artificial, never eat this and that, small meals throughout the day, small portions, never eat until full…. Tons of veggies, fruit etc, and work out on a regular basis and yet and still I'm fat, have acne and psoriasis, and deal with minor health issues. Though I don’t have a desire to eat bad foods, sometimes I wish I can just let loose every now and then. I bet everyone laughs at me that I dont hardly eat anything horrible and still have all these issues.
I thought living a healthy lifestyle pays off physically. Why isnt that happening in my case?

perhaps when you make them issues, they are/do become issues. healthier living might also include intention of positivity as opposed to fighting of battles. -

Re: It bothers me when
Tue, November 15, 2005 - 4:19 PMYour body might be getting rid of all of the junk you ate before you decided to clean up (so to speak). You might consider a cleanse, liver and kidney, to get rid of the junk faster.
On the issue of weight, I'd have to work out 3 times a day and really restrict my calories to get down to 140. That ain't gonna happen. -

Re: It bothers me when
Tue, November 15, 2005 - 4:30 PMI kinda wonder how long that should take. Years and years? Good lord!
I know what you mean by working out. I refuse to do it more than once a day. Ill do a long day, but I wont break it up.

I would have to agree with this, since I also have one of these mysterious non-caring about diet and exercise yet extra thin boyfriends. :)
Although since he's moved in with me and started eating my cooking - he's gained some weight. Apparently even though he wasn't eating healthy before, he also just wasn't eating very much at all.
Personally, I love food and cooking (luckily mostly healthy food) and part of the enjoyment of life and 'good living' is enjoying what you eat and getting pleasure out of food and exercise - not just thinking of it as some sort of penance for health and a good body. -

Wed, November 16, 2005 - 9:29 AMVery true. I would also like to see some benefits from what I'm doing - I feel like I reached a ceiling.

Wed, November 16, 2005 - 9:58 AM:D Thank you everyone!
I've been under a lot of stress lately so I know that has a lot to do with how I feel, the break outs, etc.
I'm trying! :) -

Wed, November 16, 2005 - 9:58 PMthere is no try, young rose-walker, there is only do!
hehe.
Hang in there. Love youself, all of your fabulous curves, your beautiful face, your lovely skin, your sexiness and personality. Embrace it, accept it because it's YOU. You CAN change the things you want, you can work towards healing, and feeling better, but it starts in your head, and in your heart. You can change your thinking with what you eat too.. Remember that. It's a pretty amazing lesson when you finally learn it. It just takes patience and time.

Re: It bothers me when
Thu, November 17, 2005 - 3:11 PMFrom your picture, you look like a beautiful , healthy, happy person! Don't let this society of constant "improvement" tell you otherwise. Liberate yourself from comparisons. Oh yeah and also, I was one of those skinny people who ate crap all the time and though I might not have looked unhealthy, I did not feel that good. There is always a trade off. -

Re: It bothers me when
Sat, November 19, 2005 - 1:34 PMHi everybody...
I'm one of those iron-stomached thin guys that people love to hate (at least for that). I eat fast foot maybe half the time, but after the news yesterday I'm going to get serious about quitting it. (And it is addictive...the salt/sugar ratio is carefully kept so it can make you hungry for more just minutes after eating). Worse than that, a whistleblower and former employee from DuPont said that despite his best efforts, manufacturers are continuing to make food wrappers with a chemical that leaches into the food and isn't broken down by the bloodstream for a long time, so it accumulates. So much for choosing even healthier fast foods-- doesn't matter what you get if it's the wrapper. -

Re: It bothers me when
Mon, November 21, 2005 - 2:13 AMStay positive about yourself, Rose. You're all you got.
This site might be worth your checking out: www.blackwomenshealth.com/fitne...cs.htm
If your cardio exercise means you burn 500 calories a day or if you eat 500 calories less a day, over seven days you will lose a pound (500 x 7 = 3,500 calories = 1 pound of body fat). It's that simple. If it's not working for you, have you checked your basal metabolic rate? People not only consume calories, they also use calories. If you're body uses 1700 calories/day and you consume 1400 calories/day, fat loss will be slower. Your body needs to consume some fat (omega-3 fat, mono- and polysaturated fats); it's important somehow in weight loss. If it means counting calories and keeping a calorie consumption journal, the benefit is greater than the annoyance of doing it.
