It features interviews with doctors, experts, and raw foodists including Gabriel Cousens, David Wolfe, and Woody Harrelson.

I am new to raw foods and very interested in hearing from others who are raw foodists and people who are trying to change their lives for the better. Many people in my family have diabetes and I have changed my diet and gone raw to prevent myself from also getting diabetes.

The trailer on Youtube at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSuqCMld00w

There is also a new two-disc DVD set that is available for order called RAW FOR LIFE, which is a encyclopedia of Raw Food, perfect for beginners like me and Raw Food enthusiasts. I have found it to be very helpful, as I have been transitioning to raw foods. It’s about how to live raw, the Raw Food philosophy, why to eat a raw food diet, important medical facts and nutritional information. It’s a very practical guide to becoming raw and staying raw.

I also make raw food in a dehydrator to make up for some other foods I cant eat (gluten, etc). I eat some organic chicken and fish, but not a large amount. Some cooked grains, such as brown, red and wild rice. I avoid dairy except for good quality butter.

I am currently reading a book about the food crisis (Diet for a Dead Planet), the issue of sustainability in regards to mainstream food production.
While I have been thoroughly disgusted by practices of the meat industry for quite some time, things that I read this morning really solidified those feelings.
Cattle require a high protein diet in order to grow and mature, produce milk, etc. Like people, they have a hard time digesting and metabolizing proteins from grains. Though we have been feeding almost only grain to cattle for quite some time, it's not really a diet that is natural for them. Additionally, an all-grain diet isn't the cheapest thing to provide, and it's also extremely unsustainable.
So, in the 1980's the British beef industry came up with a method to dramtically cut feed costs, speed growth (ie. raise profits) and eliminate a waste disposal problem: rendering. Economically it is a wonderful idea, and so the US and other industrialized nations soon got on board.
What exactly is rendering? Aside from being fucking gross, it's the process by which carcasses of sheep and cows, along with other goodies like chicken litter (feed, feathers, feces and bedding) are all ground up and then thrown into a vat to be decomposed through boiling. The result is a high protein slurry covered in a layer of tallow. The tallow is used in lots of things like cosmetics and lotions (think about that the next time you are marvelling at how soft your skin is). The slurry is turned into feed for cattle, and other captive animals. Everything gets used with minimal by-products. Again, economically this is a brilliant idea, but it's totally perverse. Up until about 20 years ago, it was practiced only on a micro- scale, by individual farmers and butchers. Now the entire meat industry practically depends upon it. Elininating it would cost countries hundreds of millions of dollars.
So consider now what happens when a sheep infected with scrapies gets thrown into the vat... This is thought to be the genesis of BSE (mad cow). Healthy animals eat the rendered infected tissue of other animals, and all of a sudden we have a whole string of pathogens injected into our food supply. And nobody is protecting the consumer.
Sure, the FDA and other government organizations go through the motions of testing suspicious animals, but their actions are for the protection of the industry, not to ensure your burger is safe to eat.
Ah, this makes me so angry.
Who decided it was a good idea to make cows eat animals, let alone other cows?

"you took exstacy? that's wonderful! why don't you ask your throat why it's so tight? what is it holding on too?" i asked her.

she instantly relaxed, she started breathing and her pulse dropped to 72 in less than 30 seconds.(our nurse has this neat little stats device that goes on your finger). a few moments later a wave of fear and panic took her again but this time much less and she already knew that she had won. this time i suggested that she forgive herself.... 5 minutes later she was sitting up and even enjoying her roll again.
a doctor showed up. talked to her gave her some hits from an asma spray and some over the counter allergy meds but she was fine at this point. 30 minutes later she was on the dance floor.

i wonder how many people die because they believe they will, rather than because they are actually in any danger. this young lady really could have died, she was tired, exposed, dehydrated, low blood sugar, tachycardia, on mdma (and who knows if that's all she took) and convinced that she would die from a bee sting if she didn't get a shot.

yet by choosing to communicate with herself she instantly chose to live.

the human vessel never ceases to amaze me.

About a week and a half ago I stopped eating wheat as an experiment and seriously all of the bloating, gas, etc I’ve been experiencing for years (and recently started getting worse over the past few months) is totally gone. I used to have a small slice of sprouted bread with whatever else I had in the morning and now that isn’t possible. Normally, I would also have an hard boiled egg (about 2x a week) depending on how much walking I would have to do before work. But I haven’t been much in the mood for that lately either. Other days, I would have steel cut oats. I always had some sort of fruit with it.

Now without wheat, I’m afraid to try eating oats too. Right now, all I do is grind 2 tbs of flax and drink that with water – it really holds me until I have lunch at about 9:00am. I get up at 4:00 (or so) to work, so my first meal of the day is really early.

I know I need to eat more than that, but I really don’t feel like crunching veggies and fruit so early in the morning. Is what I’m doing OK, or should I have more (even though I’m not hungry?

Benefits From Vitamins Are Few
Some supplements are deemed useful, but multivitamins neither help nor harm, a U.S. panel finds. It says more studies are needed.
By Denise Gellene, Times Staff Writer
May 18, 2006

There's no evidence that multivitamins do healthy adults much good, but the supplements don't seem to do much harm either, a federal panel said Wednesday.

Concluding a three-day conference convened by the National Institutes of Health, the panel called for further studies of multivitamins. Half of adults in the U.S. take multivitamins, helping to push annual sales of nutritional supplements to $23 billion.
Dr. J. Michael McGinnis of the National Institute of Medicine, the chairman of the panel, said the studies of multivitamins reviewed by the group were "especially thin" and most of the clinical trials were too short to determine the long-term effects of taking the supplements.

Consequently, he said, the panel had no opinion on whether healthy adults should take multivitamins. "The data is insufficient to make a recommendation for the general population," McGinnis said after the meeting in Bethesda, Md.

Still, the panel found that some individual vitamins or minerals appeared to show specific benefits.

One well-designed trial suggested that antioxidants and zinc might slow the progression of age-related macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in the elderly, McGinnis said. Calcium and vitamin D supplements seem to have an effect on fracture risk and bone density in post-menopausal women, he added.

The panel endorsed consumption of folic acid by women of childbearing age to prevent congenital deformities of the nervous system, such as spina bifida.

Experts took a position against one supplement, beta carotene, a form of vitamin A. They said there was no reason for the general population to take beta carotene because studies consistently showed the vitamin failed to prevent chronic illnesses, such as cancer or heart disease.

The panel did not look at vitamin use by children or adults with poor diets or specific nutritional needs.

Most of the people who took multivitamins were in good health, the panel found, raising the possibility that some people might consume excessive amounts of certain nutrients.

Panel member Patsy Brannon of Cornell University said 1% to 11% of supplement users may exceed the maximum levels for some vitamins and minerals by adding pills to the nutrients in their diets. One study found that some people consumed too much niacin, which can damage the liver, she said.

Still, Brannon said, there was no reason for people to stop taking multivitamins.

"If you choose to take a supplement, the simplest advice I can give is to take one that provides 100% of the daily values," she said, adding that such supplements would not put people with good diets in danger of exceeding maximum nutrient levels.

Andrew Shao of the Council for Responsible Nutrition, a trade group that represents supplement manufacturers, said he was disappointed that the panel dismissed the multivitamin studies it reviewed as weak and poorly conducted.

Shao said the industry welcomed further research, but added that supplement makers could not afford to conduct the long-term controlled studies that the panel sought because they "cost hundreds of millions of dollars."

i am really excited to announce that i can now offer your first class free with me, if you are new to the studios i am teaching at.

My schedule is posted on my tribe page - and the owners of Karuna Yoga and Bala Yoga (beautiful folks) have both agreed to let me invite students to take my first class free. If you want a free class pass, please let me know and i will get it in your hands.

I am happy to invite all of Los Angeles to check out what i do - these classes are all Introductions to Ashtanga Yoga - they are beneficial for all levels of practitioners. If you are an advanced student, i guarantee you will learn something new about your primary series practice in my class - if you have never done yoga before, i can work with you to get the most out of this experience by increasing your sensitivity and awareness in each breath and getting your body moving in a way that is appropriate for your level. I am also experienced in working with folks who are dealing with injuries – illnesses or extremely stressful situations.

I am hoping to be teaching mysore style ashtanga yoga soon here in LA - and i am looking for a space in downtown LA or near Hollywood to start an afternoon practice where i can work simultaneously with students of all levels on cultivating a consistent daily practice... if you know of a good space, please let me know!

And while i have your attention - i am actively seeking to WORK. Teaching yoga in LA town pays very very little and gas just keeps getting more expensivo. I am happy to work privately with anyone who wants to learn ashtanga yoga - i am an excellent Raw Food counselor - Intuitive Coach - structural Bodyworker and teacher of meditation and pranayama. If you need me and i can help you lets find a way to work together!

Salt (table salt):
Ingesting inorganic sodium chloride will result in an accumulation of sodium outside the cell and will pull water from the cells into the extracellular space by virtue of its concentration. In addition, water is withdrawn from the tissues in order to neutralize and suspend this toxic poison and then it is excreted via various routes (skin, kidneys, bowels, etc.). This inorganic mineral is totally unusable by our body and is excreted in the same form that it is ingested without being broken down or utilized. It creates an unnecessary hardship and wastage of energy on the body in general.

Continued use of salt results in a severe condition of the kidneys called “nephritis.” This means that the kidneys are inflamed and weakened due to their work overload and irritation from salt. Ingestion of salt also results in inflammation and swelling of all glands, contributes to constipation and indigestion, and is a factor in many skin diseases. It is in solution and suspended throughout all the fluids of the body which results in extreme irritation, injury and death to billions of cells. The body will regenerate new cells to replace those that have died but this again utilizes a great deal of energy and resources.

Inorganic sodium chloride is not necessary for life. While it is true, the body does require sodium, it is only in the organic form that is usable. We obtain all the sodium that we require from our everyday fare of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Source: High Energy Methods by T.C. Fry volume I page 3-8

Salt:
The body needs sodium, but in small quantities. We get it from the fruits and vegetables we eat. Good tomatoes taste a little salty. Celery, spinach and dark greens are naturally rich in salt. The sodium that natural foods contain is enough to meet our needs. By adding sea salt to our diet, we are almost certain to take in too much sodium, and this will lead toseveral imbalances. Knowing that the body only requires 500 mg. of sodium per day (and perhaps a little more if we are very active), and that a teaspoon of sea salt contains 1900 mg. of sodium, it is easy to understand how adding sea salt to the diet will create problems, and fast.

Salt kills life, which is why we preserve foods in salt — it prevents living activity from occurring. It is an antibiotic, which means “anti-life.” If you put salt on a fresh cut in your skin, you will be able to feel its effects for yourself. It will burn you. Salt can accumulate in the body. It causes the body to retain water in order to dilute the salt in the tissues, and to prevent harming the cells. Excess salt is deposited at various places in the body, such as on the walls of the arteries. Blood flow is thereby disrupted, and high blood pressure is the result.

Sea salt is not much better than other types of salt. Sea salt is just rock salt diluted by the ocean. The body has no use for it when it can have access to the natural sodium contained in fruits and vegetables. Before the Europeans arrived on this continent, native peoples did not use salt and were in excellent health. Many cultures throughout the world never used salt until the Europeans introduced this poison to them. After salt’s inclusion into their diet, their health progressively deteriorated, although there were several contributing factors to this deterioration.

Animals don’t eat salt, unless they get tempted into licking a salt source somewhere in nature, which rarely happens. Their instinct is better than ours, but not 100% perfect. They can also make mistakes and be fooled by salt. Anyhow, salt licks are rare and most animals never have access to them.

When you stop eating salt, it will take many months for your body to reject it. Some days you may taste salt in your mouth, although you may not have eaten it in weeks. It is another proof that the body is rejecting the salt and not using it. You may urinate more at night for a while, even many months, until the body has rejected all the salt. Complete “desalinization” of the body may take years.

To replace salt, I have come up with a natural seasoning using celery. Simply dehydrate slices of celery (in very large quantities) in a dehydrator or oven (open, at low temperature). When they are completely dried, turn them into a powder using a coffee grinder. This will make a nice, naturally salty seasoning that you can use to replace salt You can do the same with other vegetables to add additional flavor to this seasoning. Dried purple cabbage powder is especially good in salads.

More information on salt will be found in my course, How to End Confusion About Nutrition, available from www.fredericpatenaude.com

Source: Raw Secrets by Frederic Patenaude chapter 15

Is sea salt healthful?

David Klein’s response:
The major component of sea salt is sodium chloride, which is also the major component of table salt. Sea salt is touted as being healthier than table salt because the former has more trace minerals and the latter is heat processed. Nonetheless, sodium chloride in any form is toxic- it impairs all of our metabolic and cellular functions. Because it is toxic, the body retains water to dilute the toxicity so we don’t die. This is edema, and it can result in headaches and heart irregularity. When we are retaining water, the fluid balance in the body is out of balance and cellular transport is Impaired. The body needs to maintain the fluid pressure inside the cells at a specific ratio to the fluid pressure outside of the cells. When we have extra high fluid pressure outside of the cells as a result of salt eating, the cells are not able to efficiently transport normal metabolic wastes out of the cells, thus we become more and more toxic, leading to chronic fatigue and illness. Furthermore, the body needs to maintain specific concentration ratios of sodium to potassium inside and outside of the cells for proper functioning. A high salt diet leads to excess sodium becoming “locked into” cells, creating cellular dysfunction. This has been linked to many modern diseases, including cancer, diabetes, hardening of arteries, hypertension, kidney disease, nervous disorders, and osteoporosis.

As long as we have salt in our diet, we cannot effectively detoxify, lose excess weight and completely heal. Once we discontinue salt, it can take as many as a few years to offload all of the excess sodium.

My diet is rich in raw fruits and vegetables., very little to no processed foods, no dairy (though I do eat some lean meats and fish), gluten free - because I have to, and the list goes on.

It used to be that I would eat something unhealthy like fried rice or some other type of greasy carb and feel horrible for doing that. Now I'm at the point where I would eat a dark leafy green/bitter salad with lots of veggies, a little fruit, with a little raw walnuts and/or almonds, EVOO and balsamic and I STILL feel "guilty". Maybe its the EVOO and nuts even though I KNOW they are good for me, keep me from getting too hungry and overeating and supply me with protein - especially since I work out often.

How do I get over this food guilt around healthy foods? Could it be part of an eating disorder?

I eat a well balanced diet with a little bit of dairy, plenty of protein, veggies and fruits of all colors, minimally processed food, some beans and lean meats. The only thing I'm missing is whole grains, because I think I have a wheat allergy, and I don't really like the taste of buckwheat, rye, or other grains (except brown rice, yum!)

Anyway, here's what I take:

Women's daily multivitamin: I don't actually take it everyday, mostly when I remember

B Vitamin complex: Mmm, B12 and B6!

Chewable Vitamin C: I was never one to listen when people said vit. c can boost your immune system, but I have felt a lot better since taking it. I was sick for months last winter, and so far have been healthy

Panax Ginseng: I was told I was using the "wrong" ginseng and needed Siberian, but this works well for me. It gives me energy, especially i winter months when I get depressed, and doesn't make me wired like caffeine, or give me insomnia and anxiety like antidepressants

Vitex: I've heard a lot of things about this herb, and decided to try it. It has been used for centuries to balance women's hormones, alleviate PMS symptoms and promote overall menstrual health. A link to an article on how it works can be found here: http://www.deliciouslivingmag.com/healthnotes/healthnotes.cfm?ContentID=2181002 . I have horrible, unbearable PMS and do not want to use birth control pills again, because of all the horrible side effects I have had (migraines, depression, weight gain). If this herb can help me even a little, I'll be very happy.

Comments, advice and personal anecdotes are welcome!

for your consideration:

the following is an intuitive nourishment plan that i have been following for the last 3 months very successfully. i have lost over 12lbs and 2 inches off my waistline, reduced my daily food consumption to 20% - 35% of what i was eating before i figured this out (i've recently observed that emotional, mental, and psychological stress burns a lot more calories than i had imagined. i have more energy than before and my strength and ability to rebuild muscle after a workout has increased and improved. i also am sleeping about an hour less a day (6.5 hrs) with out any problems. oh and i get to eat whatever i want whenever i want to as long as i follow the guidelines i will present.
sound to good to be true..well it's been working for 3 months and i'll keep doing it until it doesn't feel right to continue.

so here's the basic idea. 3 things suddenly dawned on me that motivated me to start this:

1) my body knows how to heal and grow and develop all by itself and it, like all living things, actively regulates itself in the moment for all of it's needs, therefore it should know what it needs at each moment as far as diet and nutrition are concerned.

so i meditated on this for a a while until i got the second part-sacred geometry.

2) there is a relationship between the size of our stomach, mouth and hands. our stomach is the size of 2 open hands. each hand is the size of 2 open mouths.

3) i am rarely more than 15 minutes away from a meal, actually if you think about it, we can find found usually within 5 minutes of feeling hungry and deciding to eat.

so it occurred to me, what if i pay really careful attention to what my body needs, in the moment and eat one handful of whatever tastes and smells best...then wait for at least 15 minutes before eating a second handful. this way i could choose from all that is available and half fill my stomach.

well it's just that simple!

the results were immediate. fighting only the 40 yo habit to stuff myself until i felt full, i quickly learned to eat when i felt hungry, not starving..
imagine a fuel gauge ..when you reach 1/4 fill upto 3/4... this way you don't overwhelm your digestive system and you never drop down to the red light zone...

my body is responding so well to this - here's the science behind it.

1) we evolved from 3 billion years of hunter/ gatherer grazing. this means we ate handfulls (we don't have pockets) of food at a time, and more than one hand meant to free hand for climbing, fighting, tools, etc...

2) we actually need to eat small amounts of protein ( and all the other nutrients of course) every 2-3 hrs to maintain steady blood sugar levels for proper metabolism

3) most food contain toxins that need to be metabolized, especially vegetables and many meats....(grains and fruits we eat tend to have less toxins and refined foods have, by definition the least amount of natural toxins) less food = less toxins = less down time

what do i eat? whatever tastes best and is most appealing up to a handful or until it is no longer appealing - which ever is less.
by eating a bit slower i am learning to calibrate my taste buds to when the flavors are not as intense or savory, taking this as a signal that the body is less interested.

my only dietary restrictions are:
delicious, natural, and in moderation.
i do eat one larger meal yet it is still about half as much as i would normally have for dinner - i do not fill my stomach to capacity much less stuff it.

the most interesting change was while eating out. normally i spend some time looking at the menu picking out an appetizer, main course, salad, drinks..well you know.. the meal.

now i first pick out an appetizer, finish eating it completely and even wait a few minutes before selecting again..sure enough my in the moment selection is always different from my previously 'planned' menu..

my food choices are very different in the moment keep each meal interesting and i even look forward to seeing what it is that i most need...and everything just taste so much better now.
the challenge is in shopping and keeping large variety of food with out it going bad.

anyway, i call this Intuitive Eating and by the end of the week i have consumed from every food group, eaten less and feel strong and light. i also feel that i am learning to communicate with my body at a level that is orders of magnitude more refined than before, that can only be good ;)

comments...?

one last thing a handful is what i can comfortable carry without a bag or wrapper in a hand... otherwize a large pizza or 3 lb burrito would also qualify and it doesn't

think 2 fruits, or : nuts, cheese, chocolate etc...

about a year ago, i started a yoga practice that starts at 8 am every day. i got into the habit of mixing atkins vanilla shake mix with 2 tbs. of ground flax seed with water, so i wouldn't go to yoga on an empty stomach. it worked great, and starting the day this way has done wonders for me-- i have lost 40 pounds, and i don't get as hungry at night. i should mention that this shake habit doesn't really make a whole breakfast for me-- after yoga, i am usually a little bit hungry again, so i eat a more proper breakfast, either yogurt, eggs, turkey bacon, steel-cut oats, miso soup, etc.

but.... atkins has discontinued their powdered shake mixes (and their pre-mixed shakes are EXPENSIVE!), and for the last couple of weeks i've been drinking just the ground flax without any mix at all. it doesn't feel as good, and my energy level has dropped quite a bit. i know that atkins is probably not the very best thing, but it seemed to work pretty well for me, and i'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for other powder mixes, or how to make your own.

i should also mention that i hate smoothies-- i almost never eat fruit of any kind, i just plain hate both the sweet taste and the weird textures. so i'm not asking for recipes of that kind at all. i'm wondering how in the world do i make my own nutritious vanilla protein thing? the googles i've done on shake recipes always seem to include fruit, or are more for bulking up weightlifters... i found one recipe that included powdered milk, whey protein, ice cream, and peanut butter... i don't think that's what i'm looking for!

so.... any ideas? any recipes? any comments?
The only solution that will save mankind on this planet is a major reversal of man's definition of progress. Perhaps the notion of Mother Earth and the associated feminine principles can be integrated or woven in successfully, however this is doubtful. Mankind has become too dependent on raping the planet for her resources rather than cleverly using the land to produce abundant raw organic fruits to feed the people. New value systems need to be taught. Brilliant awarenesses need to be shared. A total revamping of what is wise needs to be proclaimed, received and adhered to. The present day value of a dollar bill is actually naught. Love is the power source. Peace, harmony and tranquility are byproducts. Unification in consciousness is our only hope for worldwide salvation. There is a pathway that can save us all. It is indeed quite rudimentary, however it will totally shock the system. Are the people ready to give up their creature comforts for the bare essentals? I dunno. Getting zen is quite a journey and I still have a long way to go myself. Perhaps if enough beings worked as a team something magnificent could happen. It is our destiny to make a gallant effort and succeed. We must learn and integrate simple and frugal ways of being into our lives. The transition is arduous and painful. Get started. Transitioning your diet is key. Learn about Fruitarianism. It is essential knowledge. I wish you wellness. ;-)

Well I just moved east, back home for a month and I am having an incredibly difficult time with nutrition. There are a lot of reasons that I have difficulties with eating well here including lack of health foods and fresh organic produce at affordable rates, as well as psychological reasons and the general holiday stresses. Regardless I am having a really difficult time doing what came naturally to me out west so and I am thinking that doing another fast/cleanse will get me refocused here.

However I realize it would be totally counter productive if I actually harm my health in the process. Anyone have any useful links or info on this?
I: Eat right more than most of the time; haven’t had fast food in 5 years, never eat junk, artificial, never eat this and that, small meals throughout the day, small portions, never eat until full…. Tons of veggies, fruit etc, and work out on a regular basis and yet and still I'm fat, have acne and psoriasis, and deal with minor health issues. Though I don’t have a desire to eat bad foods, sometimes I wish I can just let loose every now and then. I bet everyone laughs at me that I dont hardly eat anything horrible and still have all these issues.

this is for you and anyone else who is reading and has similar goals
once you have complete control over your life..you can accomplish anything that you set out to do..quitting smoking is one of the most difficult challenges a person will ever face
this accomplishment..which you will achieve..will be a foundation stone to achieving any goal in the future
know this..you can build on that for the rest of your life..it is the most precious thing that you can ever do for yourself

three keys that worked for me:
1 change your environment..get out of your daily routine..no drinking alcohol for a week..take a week off work..anything that you can do to reduce your smoking cues to a minimum until you have beat the physical addiction (if you need a place to get away for a week..you are welcome to stay with me)
2 satisfy your oral cravings..gum..lollies..candycigs..joints..baby bottle..anything that will prevent you from breaking down
3 MARRY YOURSELF..this is a concept that i came up with to reinforce a level of commitment which i had never faced..a LIFE commitment to myself equivical only to what i could compare to the concept of true marriage..
i did give myself a backdoor..inthat if i could ever upload my brain or vampirically posess another vessle that only then i could reconsider my comittment

I found this online and you have 10 apples a day, for 3 days, an enema at night, and then add in a glass of grape juice the last day.
I keep having a hard time starting it. I realized I am afraid of it not working, and then what? (I have tried so many things for my skin it would just be one more on the list ...) and I am also afraid of succeeding, because what if it works? Then what will I do with my free time? hahah

OK, I kinda wing it usually as far as amounts, so adjust to taste with the veggies/seasonings... but here's the basics:

You'll need:
1 package of wild rice
1 package of spanish rice
red, yellow, orange, green bell peppers (or any combo)
green onions, chives, or both
cilantro
basil
garlic (I like alot of garlic)
eggs
hollandaise sauce mix
butter for hollandaise & frying

OK>>

Prepare the rice. The wild rice takes a little bit longer, so start it first.

Chop up your veggies. The bell peppers, I usually use 3 colors, about half a pepper each. I use ALOT of garlic, several cloves, but use it as you like. I usually chop about half of the basil (fresh from TJ's), and all of the chives and green onions. The cilantro amount is up to you, again. Everything is subject to your taste, really, but I prefer more to less. :)

Add 2 eggs, and stir. If it is not looking sufficiently goopy with egg, add another one or two, you are just using the egg to hold it together when you fry it.

Make the Hollandaise sauce. It's fast and easy, you just melt the butter and add the mix, maybe a lil water.

Now melt butter in a pan, and add 2-3 spoonfuls of the rice/veggie mix onto the pan, shape it into a patty with the spatula, and fry it until it no longer sticks when you slide it around in the pan (you can help it). It's really easy to flip these if you place a plate on top of the un-cooked side and flip the whole thing over, an then slide it off the plate and back into the pan.

Once both sides are cooked, put it on a plate, and pour hollandaise on top. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Delish.

I believe the value of vitamin C supplementation cannot be understated.

I recommend C with bioflavinoids added and, for those who's stomachs get upset from the acidity, buffered C. Also, "Emerg'en-C" is a great product, providing 1,000mg's per packet, plus electrolytes. Chewable C is bad for your teeth.

I, personally, take at least 1,000 mg's of C every day and up to 10,000 when I feel I'm getting sick. I rarely catch colds and haven't had a flu in...can't even remember the last time. When I do catch a cold I am never sick for more than 2 whole days. I feel a lot better almost immediately after high (3-5,000 mg) doses.

From Gary Null:
...
In the 65 years since its discovery, vitamin C has come to be known as a "wonder worker." It's easy to see why: In addition to its role in collagen formation and other life-sustaining functions, vitamin C serves as a key immune system nutrient and a potent free-radical fighter. This double-duty nutrient has been shown to prevent many illnesses, from everyday ailments such as the common cold to devastating diseases such as cancer.

In the scientific world, the water-soluble vitamin C is known as ascorbic acid (meaning "without scurvy," the disease caused by a vitamin C deficiency). We depend on ascorbic acid for many aspects of our biochemical functioning; yet human beings are among only a handful of animal species that cannot produce their own supply of vitamin C. Like these other animals, including primates and guinea pigs, we have no choice but to obtain this nutrient in our diet. Considering the many benefits vitamin C may provide, that mandate is deceptively simple.

http://www.garynull.com/Documents/vitaminc.htm
......

Any thoughts?
fill 1/3 of a pot with water and bring to a boil
to save cooking time toss in a handful of lentils, green and yellow split peas, and brown or wild rice while water is heating.
1-2 cans salt free organic diced tomatoes..if you have it
if you are using fresh tomatoes wait till the end to add

1 pepper chopped: green, red, pasilla, anahiem..whatever you got
½ - 1 whole garlic chopped
some ginger if ya have
broccoli, tomatoes, idunno..whatcha got?..squash, mushrooms, yams, kale, spinach, fresh basil,..

check the beans and rice to see if you need to add more water or drain some soup..if its soupy than consider it a soup!!!!
Once the beans and rice are done (about a half hour) turn off the heat and add the veggies..stir until your smile turns to a drool..then chow!
Excellent wth hot sauce, cheese, quality bread and crackers..salad on the side
>>So, positivity and benevolence are going to get rid of my cellulite? Because magic creams sure aren't doing their part.<<

benevolence, positivity, good nutrition, positive self-image and attitude define how we view our selves..and thus we become that image
hard work and commitment are absolutely necessary to succeed in your goals

creams, pills, fad diets, lipo..none of these will work if you do not believe in yourself

good luck to all of you..i have witnessed miracles happen for myself my clientelle and my friends

sarcasm fear and disbelief will not get you there..hard work commitment and love will!

I know that purines occur naturally in many foods that are generally considered good for you (broccoli for one). Does anyone have any insight on the subject or a recommendation for a source I can reference to change my diet and/or find out for sure if I'm on the right track.
