The script for this is done and a few props are being collected.
Anybody wanna try their hand at storyboarding? If you've seen the FOMF storyboards, you know we don't need a LOT of details, just enough to place characters in a set.

Thu, November 9, 2006 - 11:05 AMI'm not much of an artist, but I'd be happy to help with other things if I can.

Re: "The Temple"
Thu, November 9, 2006 - 12:18 PMFor the cheerfully ignorant, could you describe a storyboard? -

Re: "The Temple"
Thu, November 9, 2006 - 3:30 PMStoryboards are simple sketches showing the action of each scene.
Most commercial storyboards are really fancy. Ours rarely have to be. -

Re: "The Temple"
Thu, November 9, 2006 - 3:38 PMSo, would stick figures do it? Basically, we're talking about something resembling choreography? -
-
Re: "The Temple"
Thu, November 9, 2006 - 4:21 PMYeah, stick figures would probably be okay as long as it wasn't critical to show their orientation.
I've uploaded to the tribe album the first page of storyboards for the FOMF trailer as an example. These are much rougher than commercial storyboards, but I basically drew these for myself.
As you can see, they're pretty simple figures.
I've never had anyone else storyboard something I've written, so it should be interesting as an experiment. -

Thu, November 9, 2006 - 6:41 PMCan I read the script? I don't know if I could do this, but I could certainly make a stab at it. -

Re: "The Temple"
Fri, November 10, 2006 - 3:25 PMI'll post two early scenes.
The setup is that this is told from the point of view of a WWI German submarine commander.
Here are two scenes:
3. July second. We send the British freighter Victory to the bottom of the Atlantic, along with her lifeboats and the cowards within. The footage is splendid.
4. Later that day, upon surfacing, we remove a corpse from our hull, a member of the Victory’s crew, no doubt. The only value this creature passes on is an odd ivory cameo, confiscated by Lieutenant Kienze.
This particular movie is going to be done in the same style as The Testament of Tom Jacoby, with stills, so think of images that are stills, flickering by, complementing the text. The idea isn't to shoot what's written, but to shoot what, when combined with the text, makes a BETTER picture.
The images will pass by about as fast as the narrator speaks the lines, although I expect there will be a gap between "scenes" of a few seconds. Go ahead and give the first scene a try and see where you get and how it feels. Basically, you're drawing out what the photographer will shoot.

Tue, February 13, 2007 - 11:42 AMFor those of you following this project, we finished recording the voiceovers Friday. Sounds great! Now to knock an hour and a half of audio down to about, oh, ten minutes... 8)
We will also be looking for actors for the parts. No speaking roles, but you need to look reasonably likely to be on a German WWI submarine.
Some examples of how they looked:

Re: "The Temple"
Mon, November 13, 2006 - 8:11 PMAn idea fairly quickly popped into my head for scene 3; scene 4 is starting to build as well... I'll try and sketch something out tomorrow while I have a day off. If I can come up with some ideas I'll swing by your place and share them with you.
