One of the rarest aspects/configurations of a horoscope, with two pairs of planets directly opposite each other (within 5 degrees);
"A configuration of intense aspects, formed by four points of a horoscope which occur as pairs of oppositions connected by squares."
So basically you have either a Cardinal, Fixed or Mutable Grand Cross.
"Astrologers of old did not like this formation. They had many horrific pronouncements to anyone unfortunate enough to have a grand cross in their chart. Modern astrologers are more liberal, but still agree that the grand cross is a formation filled with stress and crises. The Fixed Grand Cross was especially singaled out, being called "the cross of crises" or "the cross of Christ" (as in, suffering)."
The Fixed Grand Cross being the worst is also the sign of the Apocalypse;
"The lion is Leo, the ox is Taurus, the man is Aquarius and the eagle is Scorpio (Eagle was a popular symbol for Scorpio back then). The eclipse of August 1999, which coincided with the grand cross, was called the "Eye of God". "
A Grand/Cosmic Cross is very stressful for those born under it, but if the said person can overcome their trials (said to be similar to the '12 Labors of Hercules') the rewards can be exceptional.
