Beyond what you read there, we are, at this point, forging ahead with development of the Village in anticipation of future members. We aspire to become a model of new tribal living. Many communities feel the need to have vast amounts of land, and segregate from society, but we feel that this Village should be an example of how others could take a tract of real estate, even smaller than ours, and develop a sustainable tribal community that would be a realistic alternative to "suburbia". We would like to see many examples of green building, alternative energy, permaculture, equality of labor,and great diversity of commerce that would incorporate barter, local trade, and perhaps even an internal monetary system. We simply dont think hundreds of acres of land is a pre-requisite for true community. We can all green our lives, support our local artisans and agriculture, and give back to Gaia in a plethera of means right in our own situation. And for those who wish to live out their convictions on a deeper level, there is community. We have structured the land ownership ( who really ever owns the land) in a way that makes startup costs affordable for anyone, and provides a substantial level of internal income and stability for the entire community. Once an application has been approved by the community members, the initial investment is $199.00 for their choice of 1/4 ac lot in the area designated for residence. Once 20 lots have been sold this community will not offer any more lots and future applicants will be considered for a second location nearby, a sister village, but we see this being a few years in the making. The $4000.00 monthly revenue generated by the total lots becomes resource for the Village. That resource invested into development of co-owned and member operated businesses ensures a truly sustainable income, agriculture base, with unlimited potential for opportunities to teach other communities from our model as well as becoming a unique and valuable resource for the local public.
