There are several "green" actions that I have been doing since I was a kid, and I did them not because I was an environmentalist, but because we were poor. Examples: instead of getting new clothes all the time I wore my sisters hand-me-downs and repaired them (with high-tech gadgets called needle and thread) when they tore. I never drank bottled water (never would have occured to me) but survived on that strange and mysterious substance known as tap water. I walked or hitched a ride with friends whenever I went somewhere because I couldn't afford a car. I turned off the lights ANYTIME I left a room to save electricity. All these things not only help the planet, it saved money.
Sometimes it's difficult to convince a person to do the rightthing for the biosphere. They often don't see the point, the "benefit" if you will. Maybe they think being a conservationaist is simply too inconvenient, whatever. If you find you can't appeal to the green in thier hearts, try appealing to the green in their wallets. What environmentally friendly tips can you share that also save the moola?
