i'm interested in learning more about how greenfest is run. my interest is in sustainability within the planning of the event--how do the event staff handle waste management, food vending, transportation/parking policy, etc. (i'm an event planner and work on logistics and sustainability for a variety of events.)

two purposes of this thread:

a) i'd love to hear opinions from people in the know about how they feel about Greenfest's sustainability practices. i have no pre-judgment--i'm just interested in learning more about how a more mainstream/yuppie eco-event has shaped its environmental policies (compared to, say, burning man, OCF, WEF, or party camp-outs).

b) i personally would love to interview a person or two on greenfest staff, and with any luck get a tour or behind-the-scenes look at the event this weekend. i don't mind paying for an entry ticket--i just want to find a person who can get me more information about how the event is run.

thoughts? and if you have contacts for me, i'd love to get a name or two!

i'd love it if you could find out who hires the employees that smoke out front and then toss their butts on the ground

I know the staff pretty well and can introduce you to both the producers, production team, and the recent regional coordinator. They work hard and don't confuse the volunteers who show up for a day to be staff, just because they have the t-shirt doesn't always mean that they know what's going on. Bummer some of those folks we disrespting the grounds, and forgetting the LNT policy green fest has. It starts with you, and where ever you choose to go!

Sorry I didn't see this post until now and Green Fest is over. I can hook u up for other productions and interview with the staff at the Global Exchange office in SF. They are cool and very inspirational people.

The event itself is greened by seven star event productions who does many events like this, the next one coming up is the EcoGift expo in LA Dec 14-16th. Google it all and you'll find them and more about hat event. I may be working with seven star in some capacity- wish me luck!! i'll let y'all all know (Greening BM has thrust me into lots of other greening events opps and learnings).

I'm best if you send me a personal message, if you want more info. I'm not on tribe all that much. Anyone else want to manage this tribe ;)
