So I was eating some sherbet today and noticed this substance listed on the ingredients list on the back. I remembered it was an ingredient in my deoderant and shampoo as well.... hmm so i wanted to know if this stuf causes health problems...

Animal tests in high doses -Female animals that ate large amounts of ethylene glycol had babies with birth defects, while male animals had reduced sperm counts.

The MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for Propylene Glycol says: “May be harmful by ingestion or skin absorption. May cause eye irritation, skin irritation. Chronic exposure can cause gastro-intestinal disturbances, nausea, headache and vomiting, central nervous system depression. (“Toxicological profile for ethylene glycol and propylene glycol (update).” Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), 1996. Eating or drinking very large amounts of ethylene glycol can result in death, while large amounts can result in nausea, convulsions, slurred speech, disorientation, and heart and kidney problems.

I recall a few years back the exact moment when I started (and kept) and reading ingredients...working for TCBY as a teen...and seeing that the key ingredient was the same wax that was the key ingredient in my surf wax....eeeeeew!
