so i found a spot in a semi wooded area (it has a few really bright and sunny spots) near my house it has a few tires that have been thrown back there and i was considering planting a few plants in some of them, the area is frequently used by kids on bikes (there are some bike ramps back there, and it looks like some people drink back there as well... i am new to the whole gardening thing but i would like to plant some food back there that really does not need a lot of care and it will pretty much grow itself so anyone interested can harvest the goods

would it be a good idea to fill the tires with dirt to make a mini raised bed and what would be some good companion plants to put in there to get the maximum yield from that space

i am not sure what zone i am in but i am in south eastern pa, its starting to get to be warm nice spring weather like the 70s

weather around here varies we can sometimes have a lot of rain or no rain at all it can get pretty hot here like 100+ but that doesnt happen often.. i think in the summer it usualy gets to be about the high 80s low 90s it is sometimes humid some times dry meh i dunno lol

Now your talking to mostly Californians where even in the north we just get 20". So what is a lot in your area. Also the Highs and lows may be helpful.

you could also, if you wish, add the fourth sister
which attracts beneficial insects such as bee balm
or lavender. nice for color as well
