One Heck of a belly dance weekend July 4th-5th

Announcing a day of medieval activities and belly dancing in Pensacola Florida, July 4th and 5th at the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds. the Society for Creative Anacromism is hosting Arabian Nights and this year the theme is the melding of cultures after the Mongolian invasion of the middle east in the 13th century. We have a full day of belly dance classes for Saturday and live drummer haflas on both Friday and Saturday nights. Here is the line up:
Atira of Atira Arts Studios in Gulf Shores Alabama will be teaching a choreography class and a sword dance class and possibly an Egyptian/ Polynesian fusion class depending on interest.
Kira of Savannah, Ga will be teaching Tang Dynasty Classical Chinese Long Sleeve Court dance movements, Mongolian Ceremonial Tea cup dance and Chinese dance folk movements, and Friday night, How to incorporate Chinese dance movements into your ME dance vocabulary.
and Finally!!!!
PETITE JAMILLA of BDSS will be teaching two workshops. These two hour workshops will be Dance Fundamentals and Double Veil. Both of Petite Jamilla's workshops are two hours long and are being offered at the low low cost of $20 per workshop!
We havn't seen this kind of line up around this part of the gulf coast in a long time!

Fee's are $29 at the door for adults for the whole weekend, children under 12 are $16, under 5 free.
For Saturday only $25 for adults $14 for children under 12.
This fee includes a five course medieval feast with belly dance performances in the evening as well as activities galore! Dancing is not all there is, we have medieval style fighting, fencing and archery. A full contingent of classes on arts and crafts and many merchants to peruse!
Bring the family, we have children's activities which are fun and educational.
And don't forget the late night of drumming and dancing, all in the air conditioning!
This event is unlike any dance weekend you have ever seen before! And way better than a renaissance faire because you aren't watching the activities you are participating in them!

An American belly dancer in England

I am looking to move to Biloxi in a year or so. I'm looking for 2 new members who are interested in dancing with me. Neohips, is a well established professional performing fusion dance troupe, based in England, and I look forward to branching (hopefully) into the Biloxi area.
I am well trained and have study with the top tribal performers such Sharon Kihara, Kami Liddle, The Uzume....

Tribal Pura workshops in New Orleans

I checked with Kate to be sure about this first...there are still a few spots open for this weekend's Tribal Pura workshops in NO, Saturday and Sunday March 29 and 30.

Tribal Style workshops coming soon to Ft Walton!

For those who have not seen this info on some other tribes, Joyce Young will be giving workshops in our neck of the woods starting in January. She has attended a lot of workshops herself, including several Fat Chance workshops. She teaches and performs in Tallahassee area. I highly reccommend her classes. Below is what she posted for us on Tribal Heart:

$25 if paying individually, or pre-register for all four for $75 (pre-registration must be received by Jan 5) -
Preregistration is HIGHLY recommended as space it limited to 15 dancers per workshop!

Tribal Heart at the Pensacola Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire, March 1 & 2

We will be at the spring Pcola Ren Faire, the 7th annual, on March 1 and 2, 2008.

Our performances are at 10:30 and 1, at the Arabia Tent.

The faire runs 10 to 5 both days. $10 admission. $5 for children under 12. (Four year old and younger is free.)

Location is the Pensacola Fair grounds, 6655 Mobile Hwy.

Coming up in our neck of the woods

Things to do for dancers....

For everyone, dancer or not, is the Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire at the Pensacola Fair Grounds, March 1 and 2. See my post on it for more info. Tribal Heart, Saraab, Zuri are some of the dancers that will be there.

Joyce has 2 more workshops in Ft Walton, March and April, second Saturday of each month. See other posting on the subject for details if you are not already signed up. Highly recommended!! If you are new to tribal or if you have been doing tribal and want more 'attention to detail' for your style, these are for you.

Last weekend of March is Tribal Pura in NO! Much anticipated 2 day workshop taught by Carolena and Meg. The info on this is available on the events listings here. Plus while in New Orleans, you can go by the Den to see Ali and the NO Madic ladies do their show on Friday.

Zuri is hosting Mira Betz . See events listing tab here for details posted by Roz on this, end of April. This is a 2 day event.

Quick run down on some upcoming things of interest. Take advantage of any of these that you can!

I just wanted to send a warm and very appreciative thank you to Joyce for coming all the way from Tallahassee to put on this weekend's workshop, and to DJ for opening her studio and home up for the workshop. I know Candy and I not only learned a lot this weekend, but came away with a slew of questions and things to review at our next lesson with Shawn. (All I can say is, it's a good thing Shawn is as patient as she is.)

I can't say thank you enough for the warm hospitality and the great instruction! I really appreciate it!

Finally!! Moving to Milton in June!

Hi Ladies!

I'm so excited! I"m finally on my way to Milton FL from California. I will be moving in June. I will be off-line soon, moving, so was wondering how to get in touch with you all when I get there???

I am a beginner. I have been taking Belly Dance classes 2x week here for about a year, but have only had one 2 hour workshop and only one 6 week course in true American Tribal Style, which is my favorite. Sounds like some of you get together weekends in Pace. I hope I can join you there. Is that where Gypsy Heart is headquartered? Would it be possible to get a phone number?

I am really looking forward to meeting everyone, and learning from you!

Can't Stop Dancing

Hello Gypsy Heart Ladies,

I am a first year belly dancer from California. I am moving to the Pace area this spring, and am so happy to see that there is plenty of hip-action there!

I have been enjoying the pics posted for Gypsy Heart and Tribal Heart. I hope to dance with you all one day soon!

I recently completed a basic workshop with Carolena from Fat Chance. She is so nice, and the workshop was great. I'm excited to see that Fat Chance has stuff going on clear over there in Florida! In fact, I am envious of all the neat stuff you ladies have going on! Mostly though, I look forward to meeting you all, and joining classes.

My students get a handout of resources, which came to me mostly by way of Catherine, of Gypsy Chicks. I hand wrote some of my own sources on her list. She has this list posted on the Gypsy Chicks tribe here and you can click on the links in her list.

I just went there for the first time, having read about it on the tribal costuming tribe.

They have some good stuff there! Wonderful pieces to build your costume with, decent prices and they are in St Louis, so not someplace far away.

Check out Catherine's list and the Red Camel to start making your costume wish list.
