Hi, me and Mellilah are coming up to Victoria for Hadia's Teacher Training and we need a place to stay and possibly share. Can anyone help us out?

Re: Need cheap space while in Victoria
Tue, January 23, 2007 - 5:26 PMI just looked and couldn't find a tribe specifically for Victoria bellydancers. There is one for Canada bellydancers. We could try posting there. ? -

Re: Need cheap space while in Victoria
Tue, January 23, 2007 - 10:14 PMThere's a tribe for Vancouver Island bellydancers and quite a few are in Victoria. There's a link in my profile but I'll try to copy and paste here, too (sorry if it doesn't work!):

Wed, January 24, 2007 - 7:52 PMAlso try contacting the University of Victoria. You might be able to stay in the dorms.
The bus system is very good in Victoria. Where will the workshops be taking place?

Re: Need cheap space while in Victoria
Wed, January 24, 2007 - 8:23 PMReally? UofV will rent their dorms out? I will contact them. Thanks. I believe the workshops are in Saanich. Hadia has stated on the registration page for Victoria B.C. that it is in "Garth Homer Studio, 813 Darwin St, Victoria, BC, Canada" but when I look for this studio on Google, it shows up as "Garth Homer Society" with the same address. I called them and a woman told me that there is a dance studio next door that uses their street address. I asked it if was close to downtown Victoria and she said, "not really, we're in a residential part of town". So I have located this studio which is in the Saanich area. Am I looking at the wrong place? I only visited Victoria once so don't know my way around. -

Re: Need cheap space while in Victoria
Wed, January 24, 2007 - 9:37 PMOpppsss.. That's nowhere near UVic.. But not far from there is an Accent Inn.. Lots of places to eat around there too.. And a mall just down the road.. It's within walking distance if you don't mind the, about, 6 block, walk.
Here is there web site.
www.accentinns.com/location...toria.htm
Check out the Victoria tourism site too and see what else is near by.
You might also want to see if you can find a B&B nearby.
The Garth Homer Society, if memory serves me, is a seniors complex not far from Saanich City hall and across the road from a Save on Foods.. It has, however, been nearly 20 years since i have lived there. We do go back about once a year to visit our parents.
Hope that is a little more help to you..

Re: Need cheap space while in Victoria
Wed, January 24, 2007 - 10:33 PMI know there's a B&B within a few blocks because there was a girl staying there when I was at the level 1 training last year. I didn't catch the name of it, but I know it was walking distance from the studio. -

Re: Need cheap space while in Victoria
Thu, January 25, 2007 - 1:04 AMYep, and August is the "On season" and places to stay will be a bit pricey. That B&B or Accent Inn is going to cost around 600 CAD weekly. That's about 580.00 USD and still a little more pricey than what we can afford for our two weeks stay.
