Where do you get your blinky stuff?

Someone (I forget who) had an AWESOME idea:

We can post here, where we get our cool blinky stuff.

That way, we can all be happy and blinky and safe on the nighttime playa!

Of course this includes my Happy Blinky Things as well as other cool kitchy burner blinky gear.

My bicycle lights, I have gotten off of Ebay recently. Not always happy with the results. some of them have been cheap; and some actually take AAA batteries, which I don't have.

The blinky things come from a very special toy shop in the downtown LA toy district. I don't know how to describe where it's at except it's off of Los Angeles Street. Next time I'll try to get a card/address.

I have heard that Grasshopper gets his very cool rope lights somewhere in the toy district as well.

Anyone else??

El-wire is cool because it uses batteries. I like the light better, too. And you can do artsy things with it. Did you see the glowy strips on the band member uniforms at the Super Bowl? A gal I met named Marcy, I think, did tho$e.

If you don't want to get into soldering your own art creation, you can just buy a length of wire connected to a battery pack. I've done that in the past. The battery packs make a kind of high-pitched squeal you can hear if it's near your ear, though. I'm going to look for some of the fiber optic wire, that looks really cool.

If you're looking for blinky things that are of the throw-away type, FantaSea in the toy district downtown is good and cheap. I believe they are near 5th and Wall. They also have cans of glow sticks at cheap prices. Don't pay $15 for 5 glowsticks somewhere when you can go there and get a can of 50 for that price.

yup, Live Wire Neon. Tanya and Alex are the best. I met them 2 years ago at Roosters house, and we ended up trading 2 furry coats for a butt load of blinkies. I LOOOVE the Hokie Spokes they carry-- those things that create big moving light patterns in your bike spokes as you ride.
I count them as great friends, our kids play together, and I have some furry products on thier website, too.
They have for the last couple years come out to LA 3 weeks before the Burn-- and sell all hours by appointment from a location in Encino, untill they leave for the Burn themselves.
