Right before Christmas I was in line at the "serve yourself" postal machine at the post office. It lets you weigh an actual box and put postage on it yourself.
It's often faster than waiting in the long lines to ship things at Christmas time.
Any, so I had like 6 boxes to ship and was posting them at this machine. The line for the actual post office was like 20 people long and the line for the machine I was on was about 10 people long.
I heard this guy about half way down the line hurumph and angerly tell his kid, "come on, lets get in the other line, this woman will take two weeks." Then he left the line and started walking.
Had he just said "I don't have time for this, let's get in the other line" I might not have said anything... some people don't wait well. The fact that he said I was going to take "two weeks" irked me though.... SUCH and exageration just makes him look like an impatient fool.
I didn't want to add to the stress though so I just turned around and said "wow, did that make you feel better?"
There were some in line that smirked. The guy that left the line looked pissed and maybe annoyed that I had taken his brutish power away from him.
I politely turned to the people closest to me in line and said, "I'm sorry I have so many boxes but my family is really close so I have lots of presents to mail."
A couple of them smiled and the lady behind me said, "hey, we are all here doing the same thing. Take your time. I'm not in a rush."
Somehow we were all happy again.
