Where are they?

I just spent the last 5 hours running errands around Portland today, as a blanket of snow covered the city and more was falling. The ol' Beemer never once flinched.

I saw one other hardy soul, on a 80's Jap bike. I salute him/her!

So my question is where are all of these "hard core" Harley riders today?

Freakin' pussies. Lol!

Keepin' it real,
Rev

Hey I'm old and well off enough so I don't have to get cold and wet if I don't want to and with my musules and bones I don't want to very often these days. But then I never claimed to be hard core or a harley rider. I was seriously thinking of taking off to datona monday (on my zx9r) but I wimped out. Yes I'm a loser.

How many bikes do you have in your stable Barry?

Ultimately I'm wanting to keep and restore my R75/5, and pick up a Triumph Thruxton this year, and a dual sport a few years later. Plus of course keeping my eyes open for any vintage classics that need rescuing, though a person doesn't find as many of those anymore. Or at least not too often at a not-so-well-off guys budget range.

And the more I think of it, I believe I'm not so much bragging about riding in the snow today as announcing to the entire Tribe family that I have a screw loose...

I MUST pick up some drier gloves before the Oregon 250 in a few weeks though! 250 miles with wet gloves? Not for me.

I just sold my dirt bike (suzuki drz400e) so I only have my daliy rider (Kawasaki 2002 zx9r (had 40,000+ on my 2000 before I totaled it)) and a special construction harley rigid dresser (I'm in the process (really slow process) of getting repainted) that is just kool to putt around on, then I got a rigid old school chopper I'm slowly (very, very, very slowly) putting together (have most all the parts). I have been pretty sick the last three years and haven't been doing much of anything, including riding or wrenching. It just sucks but I ride as much as feels safe. While the old bikes are really kool and I wouldn't mind finding a 60's royal enfield interceptor (with the chrome tank and megaphones) and/or a kool knucklehead, they are really just toys to play around with. When/ I start feeling better I'd like to get a dual sport trail bike (husky/aprila 450 or the like)just to stay in shape, a touring bike (got a bunch of parts to build an FXR, or triumph rocket, or even a bmw RT) to haul the wife around, and a nice sport/sport tourer (the new triumph sprint and suzuki gsxr 750 are a couple I realy like) to do my riding on. But for right now I'm pretty happy with that old ninja (way more bike than I can ride) and the projects out in tha garage.

While I've riden in all kinds of weather, snow is never any fun (ok on a dirt bike its kinda fun) and rain, cold, hot (and even dark) all get old pretty fast the older I get. I'm not as tough as I used to think I was.

Riding gear makes a huge difference how well you can tolerate the weather too.

        ride hard and long
