Vote FIVE EYED HAND for New Groove of the Month on Jambands.com

LEND THE HAND A HELPING HAND!!!

This post is a request for help with the hard working band, "Five Eyed Hand". They played Harmony Festival Last year and look forward to next! On the website "Jambands.com", Five Eyed Hand has happily been voted into this contest. Winning this contest is very good for Five Eyed Hand's continued efforts to keep the 'churning' musical energy going, attain even more national exposure, and more... they need your help.

www.jambands.com/Jambands250/

You can vote often... every two hours or so... and if you feel comfortable, we'd really appreciate it if you passed this website on to your music loving friends, web groups, chatrooms, and the like. Please help. They're in second place. So close, but yet so far.

If Five Eyed Hand wins they get national exposure on this website and will be introduced to many more music loving fans like you. Plus... you get to know each of us a little better.

Thanks, again, for your support of live music in these challenging times. Please vote, often, for "Five Eyed Hand" for the "New Groove of the Month" at www.jambands.com/Jambands250/.

Thanks for reading! Thanks for voting! Thanks for your support! LEND THE HAND A HELPING HAND!
Peace

Friends,

I wonder if anyone has any pictures or footage of us? I saw you out there with your cameras, but I don't know who you are! I'd love to see what you caught. Please post here or on this tribe:

http://tribes.tribe.net/evileye.

If you have video footage. I'd love to see it.

We danced on the Goddess Stage on Sat at 6:15 (although I think things were running a bit late, so we went on a bit later).

Many Blessings and what a wonderful weekend.

i have a logistical question-i'm going saturday day and saturday nite, and am hoping to park somewhere where i can "chill out" after the techno tribal gig to avoid driving home at 3am. any suggestions, or does anyone here know if they clear out the parking areas after the techno gig ends? will there be security roaming the parking lots? thanks, sue

2 extra weekend passes(+camping) for Harmony

I've got 2 extra all-weekend passes for this year's Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa on June 6,7,and 8.
This includes all 3 days of the fest. and fri. and sat. night shows(sunday night not included)
I got these at the early bird discount price of $99 per pass plus $30 per person for camping.
After all fees and secure delivery, my cost was $297( 2 tickets, 2 camping). I believe the same will cost you around $360 right now online.
I do not want to split up tickets at all, so you must buy the whole package.
send an e-mail or respond thru tribe
thanks

Hi!

I'd love to get into Harmony to work and play and I'm looking for someone that needs an extra person at their booth in the healing village. I do massage and intuitive readings. I'm a certified Bodyworker specializing in Shiatsu, Thai, Chinese Tui Na, and Reiki. I've been doing Numerology and Western Astrology readings for the last 7 years and more recently started doing intuitive energy readings and Chinese 4 Pillar Astrology readings. I can offer one or both over the weekend.

Thanks!

After 17 years as a commercial photographer I have decided that instead of complaining about the decline in photography as an art form I am going to do something about it. Beginning June 7 I will begin hosting experiential photography Treks in the SF bay area and throughout Northern California. The Treks will teach the art of mindfully designing a great photograph. For more information please visit
http://www.nccenterphotoarts.com.

Hope that you will join me - should be very informative, shared with good people and great fun.

What's up harmonious folk. I will be attending the festival for the first time this year. I have the pleasure of volunteering and camping inside. I have had recent driving troubles -- both mechanically with my car as well as $ fine-wise with a suspended license. So I am in need of assistance getting myself and small amount of gear southbound. I am looking to get to S.F. early and visit phamily...

Thanks in advance to anyone who could help me with a ride southbound on or around the 5-6th of June. I have gas money, smiles, good vibes and conversation. Love Light Blessings and Blissings ----- James

Seeking Green Generator for Symbiosis Gathering

Hello... My name is Kevin and I am looking for a 10 K to 50 K veggie or bio-diesel powered generator for Symbiosis Gathering.

Symbiosis will be held near Angels Camp, CA 140 miles from SF. The festival dates are Sept 21-24 (Thursday-Sunday). On Sept 18-21 we will be putting together a Pre-Festival Permaculture Intensive. We are in dialogue with the owners of the land to do a four-day workshop to get the land ready for the festival.

We are scheduling workshops and lectures on Saturday and Sunday during the day. We estimate talks to be 45 to 70 minutes depending on the content and hope to have 4-6 workshops per day.

We are open to any level of participation. Symbiosis would appreciate any contacts, suggestions, or ideas that you may have.

Thanks...

Kevin

I know there were many first timers this year. So what did you think? Share your thoughts about anything and everything that you experienced over the weekend. I'm still putting all mine together and getting caught up on sleep as well ;-)

Hey there lovelies, I lost my digital camera on Saturday at Harmony, total bummer because I had some shots I was pretty attached to in there. It would have been in a small black pouch. The camera itself is small and takes video as well, I think it's omni brand. If anyway has info, or knows who I can call for lost and found, let me know! Thank ya'll. Hope everyone's recuperating well from festivities.

Hey, I'm thinking at the last minute of heading to this festival, but I don't really know anyone going. If anyone needs a ride or camping buddy, or has a larger camp that could use another person, that would be great. I'll be coming from the San Fernando Valley. Perks of camping with me: I can bring a massage table, hula hoops and a canopy as well as scintillating conversation.

Featured Speakers at this year's fest

Here are a few featured speakers who will be presenting at the fest this year:

Jim Hightower - National radio commentator, writer, public speaker, and author of Thieves In
High Places, Jim Hightower believes that the true political spectrum is not right to left but top to bottom and has spent three decades battling the Powers That Be on behalf of the Powers That Ought To Be — consumers, working families, environmentalists, small businesses, and just-plain-folks.

Jose Arguelles - Dr. Jose Arguelles initiated the Harmonic Convergence in 1987 and continues to envision and create unfolding evolutionary forms for humanity. In 2000, he created the Foundation for the Law of Time to advance the World 13 Moon Calendar Change Peace Plan and to pace and model the Biosphere-Noosphere transition. Through envisioning a New Time,
the Foundation also promotes a new vision of humanity, a new knowledge to reformulate the human mind, and new spirituality to renew the human species.

Rob Brezsny - Rob Brezsny writes “Free Will Astrology,” a weekly column that reaches 10 million readers in 135 publications, including the North Bay Bohemian, and is the author of
the book Pronoia Is the Antidote for Paranoia. As much a storyteller and social observer as astrologer, Brezsny brings a literate, myth-savvy perspective to his astrological writing.

Catherine Austin Fitts - Catherine Austin Fitts, the founding director of Solari, offers a unique
perspective on the global fi nancial and political economy, including the flow of money between overt and covert sectors. She has been a Wall Street executive, President of her own investment bank and financial software fi rm, and she served as Assistant Secretary of Housing/Federal Housing Commissioner at HUD in the first Bush Administration.

Volunteers needed for non-profit booth at festival

Rock the Earth www.rocktheearth.org is a non-profit environmental advocacy org that brings together the music and environmental community. We will be having a table set up in the non-profit zone at Harmony Festival and I need some volunteers to help throughout the weekend. The purpose of the table is to educate people about who we are and to ask them to sign up for membership. if they don't want to sign up for membership then we atleast try to get them to sign up for the email list so they can learn more about Rock the Earth. One of the perks of working at our table is that you often will get to talk with musicians who have heard about us and want to know how they can get involved.

If this sounds like something you would like to do, please send me a message with your contact info (email and phone) and when you plan to be at the festival. If you can work 1-2 hours any of the days that would be great!

if you have more questions about volunteering with RtE please let me know.

How do CMTs offer massage at the Harmony Festival?

Ive contacted the Harmony Festival many months ago from a number i found on a flyer for the festival, about offering massage at the Harmony Festival for this year 2006.
Only heard back once some time later, simply saying they were looking into their need for CMTs and they would get back to me.
So I waited a couple more months then contacted them again for an update but did not reach anyone and havnt heard back still.

So does anyone know how to work as a CMT at the Harmony Festival ( or other similiarly wonderful festivals like Earthdance... which ive had similarly nonproductive results with so far )?

Anyone ever Sold Art/Craft at this Festival

I am considering it--but would like to hear from someone who has done it before. Is it very lucrative? Someone told tme that the presentation wasn't great and that there are many non-handmade items being sold next to crafts (she said that I could be next to steering wheel covers etc)

Is it possible to sell crafts and do massage from the same booth? Do they allow sharing of booths and fees?

Any info would be much appreciated. This sounds like a very fun and cool festival, but it would be a stretch for my financially to do it.

Btw--I make/sell mosaic wall hangings and jewelry.

Thanks.

Given his well-known activism on behalf of the environment, Weir is an especially apt part of the Harmony Festival.
A Dynamic musician as well as a committed social activist Michael Franti performs with Spearhead on Sunday in a festival closing showcase that is sure to have festival goers dancing out the gates.

The Festival theme this year, “Creating Sustainable Communities,” represents the spirit and attitude of the Harmony Festival, which is to embody right here, right now, the world we want to create. We’re talking about highly conscious fun.

The readers of the Bohemian recently voted the Harmony Festival the “Best Music Festival in Sonoma County,” a new title that goes along with the Festival’s 13th consecutive title of “Best Festival in Sonoma County.” Our 28th version will only be better.

The Writer's Publishing Intensive is a hands-on, immensely practical boot camp for aspiring authors, taught by author and publishing industry veteran Dawson Church, Ph.D. It covers all the basic facts authors must know about the publishing industry in order to published successfully. In a compact format, it gives authors a sense of the options open to them, what's realistic and what's not, and how they can make well-informed decisions about what's best for their manuscript. It explains the pros and cons of self-publishing, small presses and New York publishers, and the differences between them. It also outlines how best-sellers are created, and the importance of seeing the author's name as a brand. It includes valuable handouts, such as a typical author-publisher contract, a distribution contract, a promotional plan, and key web sites.
Some of the topics covered in depth are:

Why Write a Book and Get Published?
The Four Publishing Paths: Big Presses, Small Presses, Self-Publishing, and Print On Demand
Writing a Dynamite Proposal
How Publishers Evaluate Proposals
Successfully Publicizing Your Book
How To Get Lots of Books into Borders and Barnes & Noble
Who Gets What $ Piece of a $10 Book and Why? And How Much Does the Author Make?
The Cost of Publishing a Typical Book
Why Do Authors Choose Self-Publishing?
Time Frame for a Published Book From Manuscript to Release
How Your Title Can Make or Break Your Book
Distribution Options for Self-Publishers
How a Publishing Company is Structured
Post-Millennial Changes in Book Publishing
The Future of Publishing
Essential Reading

All classes run from 7 to 9:30 pm. Cost is $55 for both nights.
Walk-ins are OK but latecomers are not accepted.

I'll also be helping out at this.

NONVIOLENT COMMUNICATION
Workshop
with Martine Algiers/

Saturday, Feb 25th
10 am - 6 pm

Harmony Community Room
400G Morris St.
Sebastopol
(across from Coaches Corner Health Club)

Learn the basics and practice
the process of Nonviolent Communication, NVC
originally developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg

Even when we are doing our best to live peacefully and to work problems through with each other respectfully we are stuck using a language that has embedded in it the consciousness of domination. When these hidden messages are made conscious we have the possibility to make different choices of how we speak and think. Even then the old habitual patterns persist and so it takes ongoing awareness to change language patterns that will create the harmony for which we are longing.

Step by step we will work with the process of NVC using issues brought by participants.
- Learn how to use a language of peace making as well as how to create connection instead experiencing accusations, defensiveness and separation
- Learn how to stay more in touch with your own feelings and needs and express them clearly.
- Learn how certain ways of speaking may have prevented you from getting consideration and understanding and connection .
- Practice shifting our consciousness so that the words we use will come out in a way that they may be received as a gift even when we are expressing anger.
- Learn how to diffuse anger in others and how to hear the hidden messages behind their anger and so be more likely to avoid taking it personally.

For anyone who is working in social activist groups this training offers you essential skills to enhance your ability to serve. For couples this will give you foundation upon which to build a relationship that stays alive and fulfilling. For parents this can save your life ! No kidding. Parenting with these skills is really a different experience. Come learn how to build a culture of peace, word by word, thought by thought, heartbeat by heartbeat.

Martine Algier is a Certified CNVC Trainer and a founding member of the West Marin Community Mediation Board. Offering classes, mediation and consultations with individuals, couples, families, businesses, schools and other organizations, she brings to this work four decades of experience in holistic healing, transpersonal psychology and group leadership in the human potential movement. phone/fax 415 868 9036, martinealgier@earthlink.net.

It's TIME - Harmony Festival THIS WEEKEND!!!

Greetings, Harmony Festival Tribe,

Be good to yourself this weekend. Give yourself some real self nurturing by connecting with the LOVE at the Fairgrounds this weekend.

Saturday night is going to be really special as well. I know, I've been hearing about the planning for months now.

This weekend is your opportunity to share the Love with your Harmony Tribe.

I would love to hear what you absolutely just gotta experience at the festival.

Personally I wouldn't miss the bellydancing!

Speaking of that, here's a message from the Diva who's been responsible for creating the Festival for the last TWENTY SEVEN YEARS, Debra Giusti...

----

Dear Friends,

I invite you to come to my annual dance on the Goddess Stage at the Festival on Sunday at 11:30 am. It is titled "The Many Faces of The Goddess" and it will be performed along with 4 other wonderful women dancers, Brooke, Manisha, Layla and Carolena.

Hope to see you at the Festival!

Blessings,
Debra

Feel free to come by the Rock the Earth booth in Eco-Village to say hi :-)

What makes H&H so special to you?

If you've been to the fest, share with the rest of us why you enjoy going to this fest. Many people who go once seem to go repeatedly year after year. That's been the case for me.

For me, I love the whole vibe of the fest. There is always a good mix of people who go - young, old, middle aged, new agers, crafters, musicians, healers. It seems to attract people from all walks of life. The fest has something for just about everyone. In terms of the attractions - I really enjoy the vendors. It's great to walk down all the different aisles and see the beautiful work people have on display. I also love the body workers and learning about different techniques. And the music! There are usually some great bands performing...this year Hot Buttered Rum will be on the schedule. Looking forward to hearing who else will be there.

Welcome!

If you're here it means that you have either been to H&H and know first hand how wonderful it is, or you've heard about what a great festival it is. In either case, welcome! This will be my 3rd year going to the fest. I always come away from there filled with all sorts of new information on a variety of topics.

This year's fest info is not up on their wesbite yet but should be soon. here is the website http://www.harmonyfestival.com/ All the info from 2004 is still up so if you haven't been to the fest, look around at what happened last year to get a good idea of what to expect. All I know in terms of bands so far is that Hot Buttered Rum String Band will be on the bill. The fest usually gets some good musical acts, but in my opinion, the music always seems secondary to the rest of what you will find.

Feel free to post any pictures you have from the fest in past years. Also, if you hear of any updates please be sure to post them here for all to see.
