Okay, I am afraid that I am rather like a ten year old school girl about this, but I really wanted to see Ron and Hermione get together in this book. That's obvious that's where they're going, and I think that Ron and Hermione both know it at this point. I just have that itch that needs to be satisfied by actually watching it happen.

Re: Coupling
Thu, July 21, 2005 - 10:01 AMMeee tooooo!!! I feel like there's been less snogging than normal teenagers, but I guess they're wizards & witches and not really normal teenagers.
I hoped it would all fall out after Ron got irritated with Lavender. But... Ron is kinda slow on the uptake, isn't he? We can't have Hermione beig too bvious, though, or Ron would just blush and freak out.
I liked the way Ron just sort of gave in when Harry & Ginny kissed at the party. -

Re: Coupling
Thu, July 21, 2005 - 10:11 AMYeah, I was glad to see that brought that Harry/Ginny thing back. After the Chamber of Secrets, I mean. I didn't like Cho.
But I think that at this point Hermione and Ron both know what's up. My heart leapt when he said, "I love you, Hermione" when she started to correct his spelling on his essay. I think they both know, but would be too embarassed to mention it, so they're just leaving things at the status quo, and they'll end up getting together in the next book. *sigh* -

Re: Coupling
Thu, July 21, 2005 - 10:14 AMThe only thing stopping them from getting together and being able to fucs on their relationship is this whole Voldemort thing. ;) They might choose to be just be chill about it until Voldemort is gone because they may feel they need to give Harry 100% suppoty and focus. I dunno, tho. I hope they hook up in the next book, and not at the end when it's all over. -

Re: Coupling
Thu, July 21, 2005 - 10:24 AMif Willow and Oz can do it right before the Ascension.... -

Re: Coupling
Thu, July 21, 2005 - 10:42 AMhee hee... I didn't care for Willow the lesbian. I always wanted her to hook up with Xander. It was like if Herimone almost boffed Ron, then realized she was really into Pavarti Patil. Not cool. -

Re: Coupling
Thu, July 21, 2005 - 8:33 PMYeah, I was always hoping that Willow would get together with Xander, it seemed kind of destined, but ah well...
I agree with everyone, though, they(Hermione & Ron) are bound to get married....she hasn't been very subtle about it throughout the series, you know?

Re: Need for Coupling: of snoggs and shaggs
Sun, July 24, 2005 - 9:22 PMOK, Sure Ron and Hermione are the next Mr.&Mrs. Weasley. You guys talk like they aren't already going out? Sure it's fun to see Harry isn't totally aloof and really does love Ginny. But the whole I can't love you because you would be in danger and I couldn't bear to make the hard decision between saving you or saving the world, is total crap. It was lame in Spiderman and it's lame for Harry to do it. I think Ginny should dump him for being such a pussy that He won't let her take risks to love, that they must not live their life to save it. Lame. Harry isn't giving her enough credit, when hasn't Harry's life been in danger? How will she not be in danger because they aren't currently going out? She's been a lure before (COS) and Voldemort knows how he feels for his friends.
OK and what really breaks my suspension of disbelief in movies like CuthroatIsland is when the final battle happens the Captains square off to fight, the first mates fight each other, the Bosons fight, the Girlfriends fight, the cabin boys fight, the Monkeys and the parrots square off to fight. I hate that! It turns it into a comical farce for me when that happens. And in the same vein I hate it when every one needs to hook up by the last scene and couple up. Oh, when will Phoebe and Joey hook up? Will Frasier Crane ever bang his secretary? So when pairings of Ron/Hermione, Harry/Ginny, Bill/Fluer, Neville/Luna, Draco/Pansy/Myrtle, Tonks/Lupin, Hagrid/Maxime, Geez even Filtch and Madam Pince are getting it on, I feel like it is going to be a very special wedding season finally. Hell I expect Crabbe and Goyle to start making out. I just can’t take too much of this forced perfect pairings where no one is left out. It feels so canned when that happens. It seems like it is the “Happiest Little Elf” story. It’s Ok for some people to be just friends and not jump in the sack together, but I guess the Soap Opera need for our main characters to be complete with the love of the matched league opposite sexed main character is what sells the books for many a 13 year old. Ahh well. It jumps the shark for me a little every time I see it piled on. Why can’t Filtch be an old unloved curmudgeon? Why must every one find happiness? Where is the Shakespearean tragedy of dying alone and unloved? -

Re: Need for Coupling: of snoggs and shaggs
Mon, September 18, 2006 - 11:40 PMUnfortunatly it is Shakespear you have to blame for the "everyone gets married at the end of the story" plot device! All of his comedies can be summed up into one title (courtesy of The Reduced Shakespeare Company in The Complete Works of Shakespear Abridged) "Three Weddings and a Transvestite" It is also because of this title that you can tell that in Shakespeare's time Merchent of Venice was supposed to be a comedy.
I do agree that Ron and Hermione are going out but just don't know it yet just because they aren't snogging each other yet. And Harry is being a bit preemtive with his relationship with Ginny. Not only is he being a bit over dramatic but she is stubborn enough that Harry breaking things off could cause her to do something reckless like following him into danger with out his knowledge, putting her into far greater danger than if she was by his side.
