so what is the most you would spend on a baby-wear item and what would it have to be? i think the dollar limit for me would be $75 and that would have to be on a winter coat. i'd even have a hard time justifying that amount and would feel guilty about it.
opinions?

Tue, October 23, 2007 - 2:45 PMwoo...$75! That would HAVE to be a coat or something that would at least last 2 years:-)
I think I would spend money if the item was special enough.
Otherwise, I try to hit the sales! haha...

Tue, October 23, 2007 - 8:22 PM*sigh*
I am poor now, and I am having a hard time coming to terms with it. But, if something is really special...well, see, no...the guilt set in already. I am having fun perusing the consignment store racks for bargains!

Re: Name Your Price
Tue, October 23, 2007 - 9:25 PMthe only reason i brought it up was because of the fact that i had been shopping for a winter coat for Neko and of course all of the ones i really loved were in the $100 ~ $200 range and i kept wondering who in their right mind could do such a thing? rich people... i know...
i was so tempted

Re: Name Your Price
Wed, October 24, 2007 - 7:08 AMThat is beautiful. I hate that I have to be practical...my folks bought Stella a pink winter coat that has nothing remotely special about it and I'd love to buy her a different one....there are some adorable ones out there. But, I have to be practical about what I buy. Since she already has a coat, that's it. -

Re: Name Your Price
Wed, October 24, 2007 - 10:32 AMi totally understand, anne. we go through the same thing over here regularly.
size 18 mos was literally the first time that i had to fill in cookie's wardrobe on my own. she had received soooo many clothes between baby shower, christening and her birthday (and my mom going crazy at ross/marshalls/nordstroms) that i literally had EVERYTHING for her and could never justify buying her something myself. i will never forget this one night that one of my good pals was over here to hang out and he said, "i have to ask, but what is with her clothes? it doesn't look like it's you who is dressing her." when i told him everything she wore was generally a gift, he finally understood.
i was getting excited recently about her running out of "reserves" but then my mom dug up a shit ton of hand me downs from my nieces, so there goes that! -

Re: Name Your Price
Thu, October 25, 2007 - 11:09 PMi'm lucky that my MIL still does most of the shopping for eamon, and that she has pretty good taste
most of his clothes she finds at the babystyle outlet store, and she'll order/pay for most things i want a hand in picking out; shoes, coats
leaving me free to splurge on the very occasional pair of $30 pants, say (i'll post a pic momentarily) -

Re: Name Your Price
Sun, November 4, 2007 - 9:51 PMI paid $60 for a second hand top of the line snow suit
I bought her shoes that after tax came to $75
I can't believe I did that (they should really take my visa away)
So I guess that's my top price. honestly I'm a horribly impulsive shopper, and love pretty shiny things, so given endless money (or credit :-() I would probably buy french couture for all of us.

Tue, December 11, 2007 - 9:15 PMI have to revise my posts!!
...Cause i'd EASILY spend $70 on cranky pants if they weren't sold out!
I guess if something is that cute and unusual...it gets my cash!
