Summers Eve is pulling out the most hackneyed, bullshit excuse of a sales tactic: the "battle" of the sexes.
I absolutely LOATH when anyone drags this out. Last one was a cable company that went under, right after airing it. Plus every marketing survey shows them to be the least favorite type of commercial. Why oh WHY would anyone resort to this ancient drivel.
Granted, mens nervous system's are more amped up, yes. And they tend to work on a coarser lever. Fine. BUT WHOS FAULT IS THAT??? Every commercial, every WASP parent, every couple that "defines gender roles" putting the grunt work on the shoulders of the men.
Okay, so let's put this in gaming terms. You have 50 "body building" points to make a person. You must buy one of these two fertility packages: the male package at 2 points, and the female at 10. The female package cost so much more because it's got the whole baby factory kit: initial gamete production, second gamete reception, zygote formation and storage, plus fetus prenatal AND post natal nutrition. The rest you get to spend on strength speed, constitution, etc. Those 50 points are modified a little by heritage, pre-natal environment, and post natal rearing. But at the moment the cord is cut, with all other factors reasonably similar (ie, your parents are not brother and sister, you mother took prenatal vitamins and suffered no environmental stress or disease) the male is going to have that 8 point advantage in physical prowess.
This advantage is evident in a lot of sports: football boxing, track. But only as a general trend. The female winner of the boston marathon could certainly outrun pretty much everyone I know. But no woman has ever placed first in that marathon. On the other hand, no male winner of ANY sport has had a baby. This is how god, or nature, or evolution found things to work best.
SO WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE A "BATTLE"?????
You marry a football player and wonder why your husband is big, dumb and insensitive. What kind of short-sighted idiot does this make you? OF COURSE he's different from you. That's WHY you work well as a team. GAAAAAHHHH!

Re: Men have their idea of gentle...
Tue, April 29, 2008 - 10:18 PMtotally... which is why I am single... I thought maybe I was straight... maybe gay... maybe bi.... It comes down to the fact that we are all genetically engineered (through breeding), along with our behavioral training, to be a certain way.
We are attracted to people that have different strengths than we do because we have a hard time attaining exactly those attributes.
Then we don't get along with those folk.
Is life some ridiculous reality show (ala "Truman").
I may go hide in a cave for awhile. I have "Yahztee" and redbull in case anyone else is interested : )
