How does one make tinctures and how exactly do you use them?
Could one make (for example) a Mugwort tincture which one could regularly rub upon the third eye
would this be effective?

Re: How to make tinctures?
Thu, November 22, 2007 - 3:42 AMTinctures are made by soaking the herb in alcohol. Use the highest proof you can find. Here is a website with directions:

If you are looking to open your third eye, i'd recommend reishi and ginseng. These are shen tonics, a class of herbs that, according to Chinese traditional medicine, open us up to spirit.

Re: How to make tinctures?
Fri, February 8, 2008 - 3:38 PMi don't always agree with using the highest amount of alcohol. i've made great tinctures in brandy.
and many plants have compounds that aren't even partially/fully soluble in alcohol, so a a lower % of alcohol (meaning a little more water)
can be helpful in these cases. check out james green's "medicine makers handbook" for detailed instructions, it's a great resource.
and you make mugwort tea, or put it next to your bed. strong stuff, even just as a fresh or dried herb.
