Say "NO" to the "Trigger"-- A Trap to Kill Health Care Refrom

Recent news reports are saying that White House negotiators are considering a public option "trigger" in health care reform—a favorite idea of conservatives that would postpone the public health insurance option for years or eliminate it entirely.1

We can't afford to wait for real health care reform. Can you submit a comment on the White House comment page urging President Obama to say no to the "trigger"?

    Done Libra..thanx for posting this..

where are all the people..who care..

I see so much apathy out there..

I am on facebook..and it is beyond me.. they only want to play their silly games..
and stick their heads in the sand..
and whine and moan..when they lose ..what a valuble.. option WE are fighting for

    I am so frustrated..

I give the right wingers ..the best battle I can.... but honestly..there needs to be a LARGE UNITED FORCE!

look how many members of this tribe and we have a handful that really care..

    sigh...

    thanx..for your passion

People blame the President, saying he is betraying the Progressive base. Yet, where are we to support and make our case for ourselves, our own best interests? Progressives are said to be creative people generally. We could have much more striking signs, more vibrant songs, more inspiring chants, more pressing questions than the right. Where are those shouting in the voice of change we need to see? Yes, it is so much easier to sit back and blame those who are doing their best to make a difference rather than making that difference for ourselves.

I know it's a little early for Thanksgiving, but before I tell you my idea, I would like you to take a look at this video. It's kind of long, but I think you might enjoy it.

        www.youtube.com/watch

Now did you see the video? Remember the end of the story, when Arlo suggested that fifty people a day go into the draft board and sing a round of Alice's Restaurant?

So what do you think might happen if a thousand people a day sent Obama the same message?

        Dear Mr. President.

It is with heavy heart that we inform you that January 21, 2013 will be your last day in office. We, The American People, do not appreciate being lied to. We voted for you because you promised change, instead we are living through a continuation of the Bush Regime. Guantanamo is still very much in business, you are trying to legitimize illegal wiretapping, and not only is the war in Iraq still going, but you have illegally extended the war into Pakistan. Worse of all, you are presenting your so-called health care plan as reform rather than a clone of the same madness presented by John McCain. This is not acceptable. As you are not going to present us with the changes you have promised, we are voting for a third party next election. We do not care if a Republican is elected in 2012. As bad as the Republicans are, they are at least not liars and hypocrites.

        PS

We hope you can find an apartment that takes dogs in this present housing market.

What would happen if Obama got a thousand of these messages a day?

Let's do better. What would happen if our Democratic representatives got a thousand of these messages a day? How about our Democratic Senators? Why stop at that. Democratic aldermen, mayors, governors, judges, dog catchers, what would happen if they got a thousand of these messages a day?

so lets see where this takes us..
          oh..and .I LOVE..ARLO..

            <I love Arlo..and nobody can spin a yarn..like him! ?

It wasn't a yarn, it was a parable. What will happen if 1000 people a day left that message on Obama's website and told the same thing to their reps. You would be amazed how fast single payer would become possible.

<the powers that have control of this country.. are much bigger than O..>

Nope. You would be amazed at how much money they lost in the last crash. They are peeing their pants over the amount of money they will lose in the next crash. They cannot afford to keep doing business the way they are, but the do not have the integrity, courage, or intelligence to stop. I am rereading Lenin's "Imperialsim, the Final Stage of Capitalism" for the third time in two years. It is so right on it is amazing.

They are not as powerful as they would like us to think. It is us being afraid to stand up for themselves and allowing them to tell us what is and what is not possible that keeps them where they are.

oh this is my relaxing time..I do not want to think...ABOUT WHAT IS GOING TO AFFECT THEM FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES>>AND THEIR CHILDREN...

Just when I'm getting good and MAD because Obama's told us that his health care plan will not cover abortion, all the right wingers are screaming that he's lying and there *will* be federally-funded abortions. This whole thing is a train wreck in progress. Everybody's getting propagandized, or polarized, or placated, and whattya bet when it's all over, there won't be any reform. . .really.

Actually ..I think it is against the law..for the government to fund abortions..

            there is some old law..

I say that is the least of our problems.. woman will get abortions.. there will be a way for that to happen..I am sure..

its getting the damn public option in there..

hey do insurance companies..pay for abortions now?
