I had a swimmuing instructor, who is one of my students, approach me during class to tell me I've been teaching abdonimal "anatomy" wrong. She tells me that this picture is wrong. I cannot find anywhere that disputes this picture. Can anyone? Her comment was that the Transversus abdominus does not extend above the hip bone at all and is mainly 'contained' within the pelvic area.

A quick search reveals similar diagrams. None show the Transverse Abdominus only contained within the pelvic area. I'd tell her that until she can provide a reliable anatomical diagram refuting the many diagrams like this one, you'll continue to teach it that way.

Thank you Diana. I also posted a topic and got the same answer from 2 other women here. I will continue to teach as I have been for years. It is clear to me that she is misinformed. If she returns to classes in January I'll let her know that severalsources support my knowledge.
