So, I subscribe to this newsletter that's put together by a bodybuilder for bodybuilders, but they occasionally have really good exercises or lifts for "everyone."

In the most recent newsletter, there was an article titled "The best way to lose love handles." I read it, I looked at the pictures – basically it's like using an Ab Wheel but you're rolling a weight instead. I'm sure it works great.

Anyway, I sent an email back to the guy who puts the newsletter together and said, "Bah! The best way to get rid of love handles is bellydancing." And I described for him the maya and the taxim.

He emailed back saying, "I'm sure that does work pretty well, but I'm not qualified to teach bellydancing."

Yeah… I like to tease men with bellydancing. I hang out with a lot of drummers for metal bands, the ones who use the double-kick pedals all the time. I listen to them complain and complain how their double-kicks aren't even, how can they improve them? I always respond with "shimmy." They used to look at me like I was crazy. Then I sat down behind a kit and rode the double-kicks for a bit. A) I didn't tire very quickly at all. B) my double-kicks were very even. C) my right and my left were equally strong. So why wouldn't metal drummers want to learn to shimmy just to improve their drumming? No one even has to know they're doing it…
