R/V Heraclitus arrived in Colombo ! Next stop Padang, Sumatra!

The R/V Heraclitus is currently docked in the port of Colombo. We will be leaving Sri Lanka on May 5 for Padang, Sumatra, a 3 weeks sail. After 4 weeks of maintenance, getting into the local ecology of cultures and stocking up we will cross the Southern Indian Ocean, starting July 1, heading for Madagaskar and Mozambique (a 2 month blue water sailing voyage) and then to Capetown..

The basic cost for short participation is US$ 1,200 per month, covering food and accomodation, plus US$ 800 travel deposit (or return ticket). Up to $500/month scholarships are available for those qualified & who need it.

You can sign on for the highly regarded ?Institut of Ecotechnics (UK)? Seamanship and Sea people?s History Program for $10,800 for nine months (with up to $4,500 in scholarships for those who qualify for the program and need assistance). Certificates will be given to those who complete this program.

You can also take part in this unique expedition by becoming:
1. A contributing Member of the expedition for $10,000, which entitles people to three months onboard per year (2007, 2008, 2009).

2. An Expedition Member for $20,000 with 3 months off every year.

3. Also, contributors of $1,000 to $5,000 are welcome onboard at any Port of Call to discuss the Expedition in it?s library Captain Nemo?s Lounge.

All Monies received will go directly to Heraclitus operating and maintenance expenditures. All board members and officers are volunteers. *All dates, destinations and prices are subject to change, please check website for updates.
