OK so my feet smell just fine but when i clip my toenails I notice a pretty nasty toejam smell and even when i wash them carefully it seems to stay around. Is this some form of foot fungus? Or maybe something else? Any thoughts and suggestions on what i could use to treat it naturally?

Thanks ahead of time for the help. i may be out of town for a few days but I look forward to checking in on this tread when I return and fixing my smelly under toenail crud :)

Apple Cider Vinegar applied to your feet, then let them air dry. Best to do this right before bed. It will take a few weeks, but it WILL kill any fungus or bacteria on your feet.

  • If its toe nail fungus then it may be tough to beat. Are your toe nails normal or yellowed / discolored?

Oregano oil is one of the best antifungals. If it is toenail fungus you will need to apply it 2-3 times a day and even that may not work. Some folks go to a compounding pharmacist and acquire a urea cream which will dissolve the toe nail (relatively painless) and then apply the oregano oil directly to the nail bed with great success.

Toenail fungus is notoriously hard to treat even with prescription drugs but this herbal remedy works rather well.

    Best of luck,

  • BO is caused by microbes, which are not affected by diet. how often do you clean under your toenails? wiping your nail stick on tea tree oil or using peroxide and cleaning under them with that 3x/wk would seem like a reasonable plan of attack. both will whiten them as well. if your nails look normal then i wouldn't worry too much.

Yep, no discoloring or anything like that. So I think I'll try the peroxide and/or the nail brush option first since I have those things around the house. Thanks everyone :)
  • Hey, same here. My toenails are fine - no yellowing, streaks or anything - and I do brush them every now and then. My feet also don't smell. However, and this only applies to the big toes, there's a very strong nasty smell under those toenails.

Could it be a fungus? Isn't it strange that it only affects the big toes and that the toenails seem to be healthy?

yep it's really just those big toes that are the problem...that also seems to be where my sox get suck under my nails , i wear black sox so i can always see some near the corners. hmmm
      • Same thing here. I've been reading about this and normally fungus attack the big toes and can then spread to the little ones. However, I've had this 'condition' ever since I can remember so I don't think it's the case. Maybe it's just that the big toe is bigger and the nail is larger so it accumulate more stuff under it and hence needs more attention and care.

I've been trying out tee tree oil and/or TCP but it's too early to see any results. I'll keep you posted.
