Herpes Nation

moderated - created 06/18/05
Public Enemy once said "It takes a nation of millions to hold us back". For those of us who have herpes-who are the majority of the population in North America, it our own nation of tens of millions that are holding ourselves back.

Let's get out of our own self-created ghetto of shame and silence.

Let's in the words of Bob Marley "Tell the children the truth".

60% of the population has herpes. There has never before in the history of the world been a pandemic that affects as many people as herpes yet has no charity raising money for research , has no celebrities willing to admit that they even have it, and is so underdiscussed in the media.

Let's come together and dispel all the myths about herpes.

Let's get the message out there that there is no such thing as cold sores. That herpes is easily managed without drugs. That there are ways to have safer sexuality. That herpes doesnt make you less attractive, less sexy, less moral or damaged in any way.

It's a simple skin disease. There's no need to stay in the closet. Come and join the herpes nation and let's come together and support each other and re-claim our full rights of humanity.
