I am interested in giving Hexacomb a try as the material for my very first hexayurt. Anyone has any idea where I can get some from? I am even willing to go to a warehouse to pick it up myself if in a reasonable distance from San Diego. I have a truck which makes it convenient.

Re: Where can I find Hexacomb?
Wed, October 24, 2007 - 4:14 PMInstead of going through the trouble of finding hexacomb, has anyone considered 1" EPS sheeting laminated to 3mm plywood? I know that there are suggestions against plywood due to weight. However, the 3mm plywood is very light. EPS is lighter and much cheaper than the polyisocyanurate sheets that are commonly used. I think that a polyurethane glue like gorilla glue or PL Premium can bond foam and plywood effectively. I'm thinking of building one of these for use as a play structure for my kids and I'm wondering what my options are.
I'm also thinking of building a platform from 2x4 pieces with 3/4" thick plywood as the base. I'm thinking of modifying the plan that can be found here:
www.rainieryurts.com/platform.html
I only plan to use the play structure for season. I don't want to put the hexayurt on the bare ground because it is going to rain soon and my backyard tends to get soggy. I want a raised base. I'm in the SFBay area.
I will probably go for the standard polyiso sheets with rope tied down to the base. However, I'm wondering what my options are.
I want to try the hexayurt design because I think it's cool. I also want to experiment with structures that are available at a very low cost. -

Re: Where can I find Hexacomb?
Mon, March 31, 2008 - 5:41 PMWell, I'm probably going to build a Hexayurt this season out of one of the other suggested materials...
But I need some large sheets of Hexacomb for another project, our effigy for Scorched Nuts, Ohio's regional burn (3d week in June, come out...it's going to be awesome).
I'm building a giant GONZO fist and I want to do it without any wood or nails. I scored a BUNCH of pieces of hexacomb from some furniture movers, but I really need a few large sheets.
Does ANYONE know of suppliers? -
