Where to buy Tuff-R in the Bay Area

So I've been planning a hexayurt build for this years burn, meticulously trawling tribe, hexayurt.com and anywhere else that had any hexayurt info available. We're based in Glasgow, Scotland, so we had to make sure that the plans were concrete before we got on our flight over to the states. The one thing that I couldn't find info for was where to get solid insulating board from in the Bay Area; Home Depot stopped selling Tuff-R a while back, and that sort of insulation generally seems thin on the ground on the west coast.

We just arrived in the bay area yesterday and spent the morning in Home Depot and Lowes looking for Thermax HD or Tuff-R. Neither place stocks it, but I managed to get a lead for another possible place in the bay area that would have what I was looking for.

I went down to Golden State Lumber in Newark, and sure enough they had 6 sheets of 1-inch Tuff-R left. I took 5 of them, and I'm planning to start on a 6ft hexayurt build later this evening. The guys down there were really friendly and had quality banter to boot!

I'm guessing its probably a bit late to start planning on building a hexayurt for this years burn, but if you need some in the future they said they can order it in 'from next door' (whatever that is..), and get it within 4-6 hours. I'm guessing they have a distribution warehouse next door or something, but they said they could definitely get more and it wouldn't take long. The sheets cost about $21 each, and they also hooked us up with a couple of pieces of plywood to sandwich the goods for another $20. They also said they would do delivery to the East Bay for ~$30 if needed.

So basically, if you are in the bay area and you need solid insulation for a hexayurt, get down to;

Golden State Lumber
38801 Cherry Street
Newark, CA
94560

tel: 510-818-1000

They will totally hook you up!
