Re: do you take requests?He
Tue, July 7, 2009 - 11:38 AMI was taking custom orders for a couple of years when I first started selling my wares here, but in the last year or so, I've been pretty busy in other areas of life, so I stopped. Mostly because my turnaround time for customs can sometimes take awhile (like months) due to either not having the parts I need or sometimes I'm just taking a break from doing this up-close-detail work. Plus, my communication skills were waning during those busy times. Not so good for business, I would say. So I put a hold on custom orders to keep some balance in my life. Ha! Doesn't mean that its actually happened! ;D
People tell me what they want all the time, but really, if I don't have the pieces to make what you want and/or in the color you want, it could be a long wait. Most of the pieces I get for larger and more unusual bindis are found through scouring the many awesome bead stores here in the bay area. A couple places who specialize in vintage flatbacks and rhinestoned settings. They are not cheap and they don't often replenish their stock - the vintage pieces are in limited supply, once they're gone, they're gone. And I also find pieces randomly or I take apart other things to get the parts, like watches or other jewelry pieces. That's time consuming, but I do enjoy it.
So now, I take requests for shapes, sizes, colors, etc. and work those into my creative thoughts while I make each batch. Your ideas fuel my creativity. I'm working with what I've got on hand right now. My next supply purchase will probably happen after the next batch gets sold so keep an eye out!
And there is your long-winded answer, basically saying, no, I do not take custom orders.
Funny thing is, I'm feeling detached from you all by not doing custom orders. The interaction between us has fizzled out and I miss it. :{ -

Sat, July 11, 2009 - 10:37 AMThanks, Sandy, for explaining. I am happy to wait patiently for those moments when I get to marvel at your merchandise and choose my favorites. Makes your pieces all that much more special in this age of instant gratification.
