QOTW - 04/27/08:
When did you realize that it really is "a small world after all"?
I'm not sure which happened first. It was either when I was talking to a co-worker in Phoenix, Arizona, and we discovered we had been at the same Springsteen concert in Syracuse, NY in three years earlier, or when I was talking to a different co-worker's brother (also in Phoenix), and we realized we were born in the same Orange, California hospital...within hours of each other.

Re: Yet another Question of the Week
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 4:00 AMWhen I was in Dallas in a restaurant and literally nearly bumped into a cousin of mine that I hadn't seen in years. What were the odds that we would be in the same restaurant at the same time? Also, several people and I had been living parallel lives and had the same friends, etc, but never knew each other until later on. -

Re: Yet another Question of the Week
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 10:11 AMGrowing up in the LDS church makes it into a small world, indeed lol. If you know ANYONE in Utah, then chances are that you a) are related to someone back in your home ward, b)were roommates with someones cousin. or c) went to school with a guy that your friend dated once. LOL Yeah, it's a small world, and I love it that way, Nothing better then calling your health insurace 800 number only to find out that the guy you are talking to graduated a year ahead of you from the same school, and lived around the corner from you for 6 years, and you both were in the same restaurant the other night, even though you have no idea who he actually is....I tell ya, THAT kind of connection promotes good customer service LOL!
Bibia, my hubby and I had parallel lives for 20 years before we met!!! When we met it was the strangest thing, we had both heard stories about one another, and had been at the same dances growing up, had lived in TWO different cities at the same time, and had the same circles of friends. He had even come through the Taco bell that I worked in during school many many times (I had to have talked to him, but I just don't remember him at all!). We finally met, and ended up engaged 10 days after meeting. I think that the big guy upstairs got tired of waiting for us to get the hint and just shoved us together lol! -

Re: Yet another Question of the Week
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 3:20 PMI think the first time was when I was living in Orlando and ran into a school friend of mine from Southern CA
Then, after meeting Teresa, I found out that she had been working in the same hospital (Pomona Valley) when my daughter was born there(15 years earlier).
I'm sure there have been other instances but those are two that stand out.....

Re: Yet another Question of the Week
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 10:50 PMHow many things? Here are a few of my faves:
My high school friend's parents moved to Oregon, but her dad still had two years before he was to retire in L.A., so he began renting my old bedroom from my parents for when he was in town for work. He was at a meeting in Washington, and during the conversation with one of the fellas, came to find out that the fella went to the same high school as my buddy and me (where my father taught for 28 years). The fella said, "Hey, do you know Doc?" and bill said, "Know him? I LIVE with the guy!"
When my parents were in Germany they ran into some friends from their old church in Van Nuys.
Last year, my mom found out from a friend that the friend's grandson was also in involved in the SCA. Of course, I did not know him by his modern era name, but by his SCA name, and my mom told the friend that I was the queen (because she can't remember the name she gave me, let alone "Faizeh")...anyway, turns out one of my buddies here in Caid is the grandson on my my father's Best Man.
I went to a small high school. When I graduated, at that time, we had the largest graduating class at 125 people. My husband is from Placerville. I was looking through pix at my in-laws once, and saw my husband's brother-in-law wearing a sweatshirt from LA Baptist. Turns out HIS former brother-in-law was somebody I'd met as a child, because his whole family went to the same high school, and the family was friends with my parents.

Re: Yet another Question of the Week
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 10:56 AMI figured how the world was a small place when I kept bumping my skull on door frames and chandeliers/ceiling fans.
FYI: ceiling fans are NOT good for haircuts...
