Elizabethan Horticulture

public - created 03/20/07
Well, since there seems to be a tribe for just about everything Elizabethean and renaissance, why not the flowers and tree's and shrub's.
Now of course there are many cross over's from Medieval, and that is also good to know, so going back is great also....
The origins and styles of roses, carnations and berry bushes and vegetables are also on the list. If you know when the first recorded instance of a vegetable or flower, share!!!!! And if you want to go farther, anything up til 1875 is acceptable.

Please feel free to add pictures from herbals, diaries, or your garden or favorite painting
