Re: Graduating HS gift ideas
Sat, May 20, 2006 - 11:32 AMA memory book or box would be a great way to help her save her memories. If she scrapbooks, consider getting her a big box of great things for her to make a memory book about high school. If she doesn't, maybe you can offer to do it for/with her. It might be a great bonding experience for her to tell you about hings she remembers and help her put them in a book. If you have time, maybe you can even conspire with some of her friends to get photos taken, and collect writings from them to put in the book. How about treating her and her friends to a scrapbooking party!

Re: Graduating HS gift ideas
Sat, May 20, 2006 - 12:39 PMdepending on what she is going to do now after high school, you could also add some kind of coupon book. espcially if shes going to college. you could do a coupon for a certain amount of cash, a free fill up on her car, a coupon for a school book or school supplies, maybe do one big one, and some small ones, etc...... you get the idea
that would be a nice addition at the end of that scrapbook, ")
my mom did a scrapbook for me, well, more like photo albums from birth til....
i loved it. -

Re: Graduating HS gift ideas
Sat, May 20, 2006 - 1:16 PMThat's a great idea! A scrapbook of her life up till now, then some things for her future: laundry service, spa treatment, home-cooked meal, etc. -

Re: Graduating HS gift ideas
Sat, May 20, 2006 - 5:30 PMA friend of mine made her son a T-shirt quilt, a patchwork thing with the fronts of favorite childhood shirts as the squares. It sounds wierd, but it was really nice! There might be something like that you could do. A keepsake that wouls include pieces from her childhood. -

Mon, May 22, 2006 - 11:28 AMThanks for the support! Being a single parent (of 3 kids) & having not very many friends to speak of it's difficult. The new online connections here have a special feel good vibe that I really appreciate.
I'm going to try and combine the ideas I find from here for the after graduation get together. And I will try to get a pic that I may also share when I return on the later part of May.
Blessings<3 -

Re: Graduating HS gift ideas
Wed, May 31, 2006 - 7:24 PMAs an update to this thread, I wanted to share a little about the success of the graduation gift ideas I received here. The scrap book/picture album idea was hit!! Filled with my daughters baby pics following all the way thru high school with added family members pics of when they were still in their youth & up (old Hawaiian days). She absolutely loved it!! And of course funds to help her with college expenses.
Lots of love<3 -

Re: Graduating HS gift ideas
Sat, June 3, 2006 - 11:13 PMSince you already made a lovely scrapbook for your daughter, I'm just adding this for future reference in case any one piles through these old entries looking for ideas. The year I graduated from high school, my older sister knitted an afgan for me in our school colors. I loved it dearly and used it proudly all through college. -

Re: Graduating HS gift ideas
Thu, June 8, 2006 - 10:09 AMAloha Wind, sounds precious<3 I would like to do something like that but I first need to learn how to do so. Maybe I could sign her up for a class having something to do along these lines.
The celebrations have not ended yet. I suppose it will last throughout the summer. Anyway, during this time I am still looking for ideas for celebration parties & gifts. Especially since we have a lot of family and they are calling and asking me for ideas on how they can further participate in the celebrations.
God bless & take care<3

Re: Graduating HS gift ideas
Sat, June 17, 2006 - 5:12 AMThere are some very easy "no sew" fleece blanket plans out there, someone without the time or knowledge of how to knit/crochet could use to produce a "school colors" blanket. Here's a listing of free patterns for various fleece projects: www.craftfreebies.com/sewing....Fr-12859 including some "no sew" projects, and one floor pillow in the "sew" section, which may also be a great idea for giving to a young person who will be going away to college.
