try some glass etching or painting.

or stitch some pretty trim on sheer fabric to hang from windows or above the bed or place on the table.
    or sheets and pillowcases.

they have edible chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry powders.

if you mixed one of these with a bit of honey powder (which they also have), and some finely finely meshed up edible gold leaf, you should have some kick ass stuff.

On the more mundane side, the gift we recieved 10 years ago that we still use is a super tricked out picnic basket. Plates, champagne flutes, napkins, flatware, everything you could possibly use on a romantic picnic--plus tasty treats. Make it elegant with candles (we were given great candle lanterns) and a blanket. A great bottle of champagne and some chocolates and you have a gift they'll cherish and use for many years. Sneak some more exotic, erotic tasty bits in there and you've got something truly wonderful!

i really hate giving wally world any kind of advert, but they do have all those fantastic colorful wicked fun looking "summer dishes". you know, all those plastic glasses, plates, bowls, pitchers, etc etc.

                thats a good idea!

Pair that with some cool napkins and a tablecloth and candles and such... It's one of those things people don't generally do for themselves, but will use and enjoy if they have. Ours is in a bright green plastic basket that's lasted 10 years and is airy and easy to clean. There's so many "themes" that could be done: a backpack with healthy treats for the outdoorsy types, classic Tuscan/Italian with a bottle of red and a grapey themed napkin/throw, modern bright colors, anything! Don't forget a good cheese knife, small cutting board and a bottle opener!

What I would have liked was an offer to put together a scrap book/wedding album. Perhaps in consultation with the couple or perhaps in addition to the official one.

That's a great idea, especially if you're experienced with scrapbooking. Lots of things can be put into a scapbook that doen't go in an album. If you're still a ways out, timewise, you can even have pages out at the reception with markers, maybe a couple pages per table and people can write in it and draw pictures. Encourage them to be creative! Then the pages can go into the scrapbook with candid photos, napkins, invitations, favors, whatever. We had a big book everyone signed, but I never really went back to put it all together and 15 years later, I don't think it'll ever get done! It would have been great for someone to have done it. For ours, a friend of mine used fabric from my dress( I made it myself) and silk ribbons he used on my trim for the cover.

I know the wedding is past, but here's a good idea for future weddings.

Make a Towel Cake! Most couples register for towels. Buy two sets of bath towels, hand towels and washclothes. Each size will make up a layer of a three layer wedding cake. Easy to make! It can be done with diapers for a baby shower too!

    1. Use a round piece of cardboard, like what is used for a real cake layer. fold the towels long ways two time and start rolling. Interlace the end of one with the end of the other and keep rolling so when you are done, it looks like a big snail roll. Lay it on it's side and use decorative pins (pearl ended look the best) to hold the roll together and pin the bottom into the cardboard to keep it in place.

    2. Do the same with the hand towels, then the washclothes, stacking each layer on the one before and pinning them together so that they don't slide off.

    3. Decorate with fabric flowers tucking them into the folds of the towels/washclothes in whatever design you like.

    4. If you like, you can wrap it in netting gathered and tied at the top.

It always gets a lot of double takes and "wows"! I got one when I got married and kept looking at the gift table wondering why someone gave us a cake as a gift!

Good luck, sorry it was late!
