How do all you lovelies keep face jems on your face? I usually use those self-stick plastic jems (from jo-ann fabrics or something of the like) but we all know self-stick + playa = no face jewels. I have tried elmers glue and crazy clue but haven't had much success. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Spirit Glue, which you can find at costume shops or exotic dance shops. It's the same that burlesque dancers use to hold on pasties. No gems will fall off with it.

I like using eyelash adheasive. It worked for me at the Hooper's Ball, and I was SWEATIN'! Plus, you can use a cotton swab and make as little or big of a dot as you need.

Yep, eyelash glue. It's what we use for Renaissance Festivals when we're bellydancing. Keeps everything on.

I agree. Spirit Gum. Eyelash glue will work in a pinch but not when you're sweating. It's water soluble. Spirit gum requires spirit gum remover to get it off. You can get it at costume stores, Party City, magic shops, theater supply houses and online. And at Halloween you can even find it at the box stores like K-Mart, Wal-mart, even drug stores.

I also recommend using flat back swarovski rhinestone crystals. Yes, they are much more expensive but they are much more beautiful and you can reuse them again and again. Just soak them in alcohol to clean them between uses.

    liquid bandage!

This stuff will not come off without alcohol though, or makeup remover.

I playa tested spirit glue and it was a no go for me. Not sure why. I tried to make sure the area I was placing the jewels was clean and dry, I applied the glue to the jewels and held them on my face for about 60 seconds before letting go. But within 5 minutes I lost one, and within 1 hour I lost 4. Whats up with that?

did you let the glue go tacky before you aplied the gem to your face? If not than that might have been the problem. You should applie the glue let it sit for around 1/2 min - 2 min untill the glue gets tacky then apply the gem to your face.

strangely enough, i use elmer's glitter glue pens. cheap arts and crafts stuff...i didn't think it would work, but 20 hours of raving, hooping, insanity, and they were still on! :D works for me.

Spirit Gum is my best friend. I buy sheets of sticky jewels for scrapbooking or little bags of flat-backed jewels at hobby stores. I don't wait for the gum to get tacky...I just put the jewels right on my face and they never really come off. I even put them on over makeup, and they still stay on pretty well.
I use spirit gum to apply anything prosthetic or makeup-related.

I used to live in Florida where the humidity is RIDICULOUS... its nearly impossible to keep anything stuck to your face. The only thing I could find to work for me there was Gorilla Glue... but I have since been told that its really bad to put that stuff in contact with your skin >.<
Luckily, I've moved to Colorado where we have a much drier climate, and the safer adhesives work for me now =)

Totally spirit gum, or, in a pinch, eyelash adhesive -- but not just *any* eyelash adhesive. Most of them are utter crap. Look for the DUO latex-based medical-grade one. You can get it at most chain drugstores -- like CVS, Rite Aid, etc. -- usually near the makeup brushes and whatnot. Of course, skip that stuff if you're allergic to latex!

For my wedding I had my face covered in stick on jewels... 196 to be exact. I used eyelash glue and not only did they stay on for the whole wedding day (in +27degree Celsius weather) but they also stayed on for the next 2 days!! I only lost three in that time.
