Patterns for shorts and pants?

I love the cute hot pants and flares that I see hoopers wearing (especially the awesome bombshell pants from hoopclothes.com) but I was wondering if there was any pattern company that sold hot pants or flare patterns? There's a really cool fabric store where I live, and they have some really cool metallic stretch fabric that I would love to use, but I don't have any sort of pattern for the bottoms (I know how to make gators and I think I could wing a top or something). Does anybody have any suggestions?

If you cant find a pattern, something I always do is buy a pair that fit me then use that as the pattern. It can get tricky- esp around the center pieces- it may be easier if you cut them and use the actual pieces to trace. Just a suggestion!

You don't have to cut them. Cutting them will get the pieces all wonky and ruin a perfectly good pair of pants. You can either rip out the seams, and then trace the pieces onto paper for a pattern, or not dismantle them and trace them onto paper.
For flare legs, just adjust you paper pattern to make them wider as you go down the leg. For shorts, adjust the patter to how long you want the leg to go (above the bootie, right below the bootie, or biker short length.). Hope this makes sense. I've done it a million times, but don't always explain it well. :)

take a pair of yoga pants that fit on top like you want the flares to fit.
        turn them inside out.
put one leg inside the other.
use this as your pattern (2 front, 2 back), but when you reach the knees, flare them babies out as much as you want. i go the entire width of the fabric :)
then put your pants together (inside of legs, then crotch, then outseams, then waistband of your choice.
        a serger REALLY helps.
lately, i've been cutting my legs out, then cutting them and sewing back together for decorative seams. i need to post a pic.

i got this advice from someone on this tribe, and have made 3 or 4 pair of fabulous pants this way. good luck!
