Give me some ideas. Thus far the best I've come up with is:

Shorts
Personally Designed T-Shirt
Pink toutou (It was cute)
Beret or Umbrella drink thingy depending on the temperature.

Yoga pants (fitted or not) are very hot. Suspenders, with or without a shirt, also look great. A tuxedo top with a tie is also very engaging and fits tightly enough to be practical. Vests of all sorts look great on guys and are also hoopable (opened or closed). Also African dashiki shirts can be paired with cool hats to create an African look. If it's warm, body paint can also be very interesting in lieu of a shirt (which is especially good with fire!) I recommend checking out videos of Stephan and Company at GrooveHoops, Baxter of the Hoop Path Tribe and Barry of SuperHoopers in Atlanta. They all have great styles and they are all deliciously different!

Oh my God, how did I forget!?! Utilikilts!!! They are versatile and moveable and can carry lots of your stuff while still looking great and being hoopable. Yes, yes, yes, Utilikilts!!!

I definately love hooping in a sarong.

I did make a sorta hoop outfit with black pants, neon yellow shirt, black bandana and yellow and black face paint. I am not much of a performer but I love dressing up , if people happen to enjoy watching me that's fine too :) Ok, I guess thats kinda performing :P

Cool ideas. I have a kilt from Hot Topic that's like a utili-kilt but more oriented for winter. I've tried hooping in it but the hoops motion seems to always get sucked up by the kilt. Anyway, these are good ideas . . . I'll deffinetly look into them. Thank you!

of course utilikilts :) heavy enough on some models that hips up anyway it works.

UK also makes a super lightweight airy number that's more like basketball shorts, and well, AIRY. cheap too. almost like being not quite dressed. which is good or bad :) the spartan model.

        then we have this manly number: www.macabiskirt.com/mens_home.php :> :> :> on my list! drab colors though, begging for someone to make swoopy ones :}

slash pants... pretty nifty rayon numbers; pre-wash... hari dari is one popular name, but the noname stuff is easy, and inexpensive. all you need is one pair if you have a sewing machine - instant pattern - ties on front, and back, overlapping sides, floopy and swishy!

a lot of the vendor clothing at festivals seems very hooper friendly; batiks abound :)

thai fisherman pants - usually cotton, sometimes rayon; pre-wash to wear or you'll be sorry :)

skin tight air brushed lycra - yar

weight lifting pants - some of them are very p-delic and blacklight sensitive

various fun clothes seem to have added panels with calf flairs and all that. contrasting colors, often electric colors.

        woo: devilspanties.keenspot.com/kilts.html more ideas?

This post needs more info! :)

I'm sure there's much info buried in all the threads, but when you search "male" and get 0 hits,
or 3 for "guy", that's pretty sad! Is there a 'hooping costuming' FAQ thread anywhere?

I would like to make a couple fire hoop specific costumes, and I'm sure everyone here knows the
issues of fire hooping vs. other types of fire spinning costumes. Any other fire spinning, you could
wear neon plate mail and probably do well, but that doesn't work for hooping!

What materials are both "flame resistant" and sticky enough to get some good hooping friction on?
Where do you need to keep tight, and where can you have some 'flare'?

My initial thoughts are that calves can have flare, unless you have a lot of low-leg specific hoop
tricks (I certainly don't yet), but pretty much everywhere else on the body needs to be kept pretty tight.

Leather must work well for tight/grip/flame resistant, but what else works here?
Sure, naked is probably best, but I have no desire to flail my <call it what you will>
around while hooping, it would just be ridiculous, and probably hurt too! What
parts do you find best to leave bare while covering as much as possible? Any guys ever
worry about burning off their natural "bear costume" while hooping nude?

I want to make a couple fire-hoop specific costumes over the winter, so I'll be reading
much more here shortly I'm sure :)
