These two short videos are of my friend Leslie. Leslie decided to celebrate her anniversary of five years cancer free by doing something amazing. She climbed to one of the highest peaks in the world ... and hula hooped there. The peak is in Eiger, Switzerland and in these two shorts she is 12,000 feet high. That has to be some kind of record.

In the first one, she had to leap onto this rock formation. Even with two safety ropes, that scares the bejeebus out of me!!! At the end, when she did the lift, she said she suddenly just stopped and thought, "If I lose this hoop, it is gone forever!" and it would have been. Shudder... Check this out. It's beautiful and yet it gives me the heebie-jeebies too!!!

In this second one, you can hear the wind whipping around as she holds her ice ax and sports her climbing boots with crampons on them. Still, look at the big smile on her face. I love her. So brave and so beautiful. This woman is one of a kind and I am proud to count her among my friends.

That was stunning and bold! (I'm afraid of heights and I really don't like being cold) Congratulations on her 5 year anniversary! What a way to celebrate.

    soooooo cool! wow!

i have to admit, i love the thought of her accidentally letting her hoop fly... and then years later, other climbers looking off that same peak and seeing a random hula hoop lying there in the middle of nowhere. lol
